I was suggested the workout running with the Devil today which I then performed through zwift.
I know I have read somewhere before that zwift does not cope well with the linear xert ramp down/up as zwift treats it more as a slope (not sure where I have seen this as I searched on the forum and could not locate, perhaps it was on Facebook).
Are the workouts harder by doing them on zwift, I must admit I was feeling the freshest but I cracked during both 8 minute intervals they were killer, I also appreciate the workout was a tough one. Just wondered what people’s thought were perhaps I should aim to give it another go next week but use the ebc app on my phone to control the trainer, are you able to beam this to a laptop so you can see you data all on one screen with zwift alongside?
Another point - I also wonder if Xert has overestimated my ftp as it’s currnelty the highest it has ever been and I have had quite a big bump this year which also may have been a reason for the workout failure!
I’m not a Zwifter other than a once-a-month freebie which I often forget to do, but couldn’t you look at the workout profile on XO (Planner or Training page), recognize it’s a SMART workout with dynamic intervals and ride that workout in Slope mode on Zwift?
For example, Runnin’ with the Devil looks like this on XO –
All I need know is X and Y to closely mimic that hard start interval under my control tapering down to Y watts about a third of the way in.
Not the same as real-time adjustments EBC does in AUTO mode, but it would get the job done.
Many coaches recommend performing HIT workouts under your control.
Train your brain for the strain.
This also works on EBC for SMART intervals as long as you monitor the rainbow gauge and/or power chart and endeavor to stick close to target watts.
The other option is to ride one of the alternate workouts synced to Zwift, but the SMART workout may be the closest match to today’s goal.
