Struggling with usability - planning, editing, conceptually

Howdy. Sorry for what could be a thread best served as a support ticket…only I am struggling with Xert. Across more than one facet. And wondering how others have gone with solving for this (as I’d like to unlock the knowledge behind it, not simply write off the sub).

  • training: the planned week ahead used to look at all my historical data (and I uploaded years on years worth) and know the plan bigger days on the weekend. Nothing large on a Monday, etc. Now I have rest this Saturday. Low endurance Sunday. And a sprint workout on the following Monday? Before considering today (work day, office job) is a 300+ XSS day?! Screen cap upoload.
To say nothing of the fact I have a few broken bones (crash) and some other health issues I tried to have the platform and training account for…it couldn’t. At least not that I knew how. My threshold power has dropped a little. But nowhere near to what it would and is realistically at present.

  • editing: adding an XSS score to a ride without a PM was previously hard. Now it’s downright impossible. When you get on the one page (training) where you can edit the ride and pop up the box to add the score, simply clicking on the box closes it. Madness

  • AI predictions for performace. Heard Jack Burke mention this on his podcast multiple times. The pod is the reason I am giving Xert a go. For the life of me, cannot locate this feature?

  • Training Loads. Fitness Signature. And other Xert nomenclature. I am coming from Golden Cheetah and thought I could wrap my head around these terms easily enough. Not the case. And not really finding the vids all that helpful. Is there a Dummies Guide I am missing? Because if there is, would have loved it in the unboarding.

Sorry for the moaning. By all means roast me for dumb stuff I am missing. Just feel like I am missing a trick of three with Xert as it presently stands.

While some content is outdated you should find my newbie tips of value –

I can circle back to address some of your other questions after my ride today.
If your rides without power include HR (and preferably cadence too) you can enable HRDM under Profile Settings, General tab.

There is a massive glossary that explains many of the nitty-gritty details but I hesitate to send you there.

Loading long time history is helpful to review past activities and trends but Xert works fine with several months of activities as long as they include some activities with maximal efforts along with a few BTs (breakthroughs).

When recovering from illness or injury there is no need to create an XFAI plan.
Switch Program type to XATA Continuous (blank calendar), set IR (Improvement Rate) to Maintenance or even Off-Season, and simply ride as you are able until ready to resume normal training.

Some odd things I notice are 9 hours on March 27 and 12 hours on March 31. Are those numbers correct?
Xert is going to apply recent history to recommend future activities. For example, what you normally ride on Wednesdays.
You can configure a weekly schedule by your Availiability under Profiles Settings, General tab.
You can change this at any time and recast or update a plan (if a calendar based forecast is in play).

The magenta matchstick on April 1 indicates a broken constraint that is also noted by the red dot warning in the Adapt Forecast button above the calendar.
You can investigate why by viewing the forecast chart on the Trainng page and hover over any matchsticks with a magenta outline. A text message will be displayed.

I believe the multiple activities/Modify bug as been reported.
What happens if you change Planner Settings (gear icon) to stack the days on the calendar instead of summarizing them?

MPA drawdown is key to performance prediction in real-time or in post analysis.
If you have a Garmin this function is evident in various data fields including MPA, TTE/TTR, Magic Buckets, and Xert Dashboard.
You also see it in action on the rainbow gauge when monitoring a workout indoors on EBC (iOS or Android app) and the gauge on the Remote/Session Players.

Thanks for the reply.

March 27 is odd, it’s counted a commute as a 10hr ride (instead of the moving time of 45 min). Deleted. But it’s done the same on March 31st. So this could be a bug.

Already tried the Adapt Forecast (clicked on it) two days ago. But did not do the rest. In large part because of the previously mentioned lack of knowledge and onboarding around all this.

Stack ranked the activities and that does allow me to add XSS…only they still count the commute as the time for me pressing start to stop. Which I keep across the whole day. Seems I have to split the rides up now? Lest Xert think I have 10hrs 3-4 days a week in the working week to train… sigh

What type of device do you use that you like to keep it recording all day long?
I would definitely consider a commute as two separate rides but if you prefer otherwise go to Profile Settings, General tab, Activity Time Method and select the option you want Xert to use.

To be clear, the setting Ridgerider is suggesting changing lets you use “moving time” or “pedalling time” instead of “elapsed time”. Xert defaults to “elapsed time”.

Thanks. Have changed to moving time. A little insane that it does not auto default to that
