This may have been asked and answered before but I can’t seem to find it…
I have been a user for a bunch of years but only ever used the continuous program functionality. Today I went in to put in an event I have this summer and let the AI come up with a comprehensive plan to get me there. That plan looks reasonable and makes sense. However, when I go to a give day and review recommended workouts they often don’t come close to matching what is prescribed by the plan. For example, next Tuesday I’m supposed to do a “high Intensity training day” with 138XSS over 2h36m and the following day a “low intensity training day” with 172XSS over 2h36m. Obviously the lower XSS over the same duration can’t be high intensity and vice versa for the other day. When I click into the day for Tuesday and look at recommended rides, I don’t get a ride anywhere near 2h36m/138XSS; instead I get recommended rides that are ~138XSS but much shorter, ~1hr. That makes sense given the day is supposed to be high intensity but the hours on the calendar are off so all the week over week tracking of total hours in the plan etc also don’t reflect the recommended workouts.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a bug? It is a pretty big deal - next week I’m supposed to do 686XSS with 12hr of training, but if I use the recommended workouts I get to approx the right XSS but only spending 7hr on the bike. That’s a massive departure from the program…
The important thing is to get in the prescribed amount of low, high, and peak XSS. I find when it gives me estimated hours for the week they frequently end up being significantly more than what is actually required to hit the prescribed targets.
One key aspect of Xert is that it does not prescribe a number of hours to train, but it prescribes an amount of strain (XSS) you need to perform in order to increase your fitness.
The hours shown is an estimate of the time needed to reach the prescribed amount of XSS.
The actual hours needed is a result of how you choose to execute the work(out). This is why the same amount of XSS can be done in different timeframes depending on what workout is chosen.
Magic Buckets is brilliant if you want to freestyle the workout. If you increase the challenge level the duration needed to complete the workout will decrease.
