Zrl 2025/26 šŸš“ā€ā™‚ļø

Who else is racing ZRL this fall? It’s my first season jumping into the Zwift Racing League and I’m pretty excited to get started!

Today kicked off the first day of the ZRL 25/26 season with a TTT… How did everyone’s first race go? I’d love to see your MPA charts from the race… it’s always fun to see how deep people pushed it! Here’s mine from the TTT :skull::backhand_index_pointing_down:

I followed it up with a few Magic Buckets intervals to round out the day’s training.

Drop your charts below and let me know how it went! Any other tips for a first-time ZRL-er?

Just seen this post, here is mine from last week’s TTT. Definitely felt harder than MPA line would suggest!

Looking forward to 8 sprint segments plus the finish this week.

What league are you racing in @ManofSteele

ZRL is good fun, team tatics can be very useful

ZRL Coastal Clash Week 2: 4 Laps of Fine & Sandy (Points Race)

Tough course! A good mix of 8 short climbs (~75-90s efforts) with 8 sprint sections as well… some options for all riders!

Since I am still relatively new to Zwift racing, I was a bit too passive on the first descent and got punished for it on the first 1/2 lap. I got caught riding in no-man’s land off the back of the lead group. I was able to catch & sit back in with the lead group for the last 3.5 laps.

I should have tried to make a bigger push off the front on the final climb as I’m not much of a sprinter… settling for a bunch sprint bit me in the butt!

What did you think of this week’s race @Tizlook & @Craigh?

I am racing with Team Cryo-Gen in Indigo Division Open B4 (we were just shuffled around this week).

Nice ride Scott, just looked at your teams result and you picked up a fair few FAL points! Yesterday’s race was carnage the constant sprints and climbs meant that it was just like an interval session

Suited my rider type quite well and we did really well as a team - I am riding for the Sisu Avosetti team in the Emerald division A1. It always amazes me how much you can push in the heat of the moment when you feel like you have nothing left. No breakthroughs but it was pretty close and following ECRO itt chasing rainbows on Sunday and the zracing yesterday it has been a solid few days…looking forward to some z2 riding today

We are in the same league. I am in Team Not Poggi Faronelles. I am C cat so not one to be leading a B cat race at any time. I got caught in between groupettos, well did let the groupetto behind catch up for want of points. In the end we came 3rd by a whisker so surviving the last lap was worth it!

ZRL Coastal Clash Week 3: 1 Lap of Country to Coastal (Scratch Race)

This week’s race was relatively straightforward compared to the chaos of Week 2… no mid-race sprints or FTS points primes, just a good old-fashioned first-across-the-line wins!

All in all, besides the initial climb, the first half of the race was pretty mellow. Seemed like no one wanted to make a move. I was feeling decent near the end and tried to push the pace up the Slot Canyon climb (~5km to go) to see if I could shake off some of the heavier riders. I gave it another go with the remaining group with about 3km to go, but my timing and execution weren’t quite there… got reeled in with just over 1km left and ended up finishing mid-pack.

That said, I’m actually really happy with how I rode. Definitely a great learning experience. I’m realizing that my ability to surge, recover, and go again might be a strength compared to others… I just need to figure out how to use that more tactically in future races.

Here’s my MPA chart from the race. How did it go for you @Craigh - I know your team had a strong finish!

Well done!

I’ll be back on round two, now I’m quite busy and focused on a Granfondo on sunday and i wanted to respect the ā€œtapering weeksā€ of xert planner!

Well done for trying to make something happen, we had a few go off the front in our race but they were quickly swallowed back up into the pack! The course didn’t really allow for a breakaway especially given most of it was downhill, let’s not talk about the first 5ish minutes though :joy:

Our team had an amazing result we are quite lucky to have a lot of riders that can punch, the uphill final sprint was pretty good, i might have caught first if we had a extra 50m. Got a near breakthrough during the race

Then last night (weds) I followed up ZRL with the DRR Canyon Cup race and got a gold breakthrough :ok_hand: - easy day incoming today!

ZRL Round 1 - Race 4, Sisu Avosetti Emerald League

Final race of the round, graph is below another painful ride with lots of surges for the points sections. The points sections were quite close to each other so not much time for recovery!

I managed to get 5th at the end, first out if the bunch of non breakaway riders and picked up points across FTS and FAL.

How did everyone else get on?

Have you enjoyed your first round of ZRL @ManofSteele

Great work! Looks like tough sprints and quick recovery after. I found staying with the lead pack was rather tough after the Jarvis KOM segment (and I say that as a relatively light rider at 69kgs).

Here’s the MPA chart from my race. First day back on the bike in a while (out of town + sickness), so wasn’t feeling 100% but I’m pretty happy with how it went. I got a ghost powerup near the end, which I tried to use to help me break away from the main peloton with about 1.6k to go, but I got caught on the final sprint :frowning: I needed like another 20s of power. The legs maybe had it… I think I gave up a bit.

I’m happy with how my first round of ZRL racing went. Already made some mistakes and I’ve been learning a bit more each week! I think our team placed 5th out of 12 teams in our group, so about middle of the pack.

Well done Scott, look forward to seeing how you get on in Round 2!

Hi all - my team is looking to recruit some additional Cat B riders to help field a team for Round 3 of the ZRL season. This would require a TP of at least 200 W and a Threshold between 3.36 & 4.2 W/kg, or a 5 min power around 4.1-5.1 W/kg. We’re looking to recruit for the East US timezone slot, so races will be on Tuesdays at ~7:30pm starting on Jan 6.

If you’re interested or curious on seeing what virtual racing is about - feel free to send me a message! Cheers!
