Wasted over an hour trying to sync my selected workout to my Garmin 1030+, but it would keep holding on to the previously selected workout. I tried every off/on, clear/select, sync/re-sync, and it still held on to the recommended workout, not my selected/scheduled workout. I would really like to use the Xert Player IQ app, but end up having to use Zwift to run the workouts. My main reason right now is that I have workouts that require slope settings, and Zwift can’t do that tmk. Is there a step by step process to using Garmin 1030 with the Remote Player? I need a process that works 99% of the time, which is syncing workouts to Zwift unfortunately.
My ideal setup is running the workouts in Zwift with no trainer control and using my Kickr for power. Then also run the same workout on my Garmin using Xert Player with trainer control and Assioma pedals for power. If this possible? If I can get the workouts to sync, I think it is?
I run my workouts in Zwift and via the Zwift companion app I just select ‘incline’ instead of ‘ERG’. Incline is essentially a set resistance mode which is very similar to slope mode in that you will have to use gears to increase/decrease difficulty peddling. You can increase/decrease the ‘incline’ by tapping the little icon next to where you select ‘incline or ERG’ on the companion app.
I have my 4iii power meter set for power and cadence (because that’s what I use outside), my Zwift Hub set for resistance and my heart rate monitor is heart rate (obviously ). I dual record on my Garmin 530 as back up in case anything goes wrong with Zwift but don’t have it controlling the trainer, just reading the power meter and HR. I’ve found this to be the easiest, hassle free way to do my workouts without having to have multiple apps running at the same time, the only issue is, that some of the Xert workouts with curved intervals translate to a straight ramp in Zwift, but I tend to avoid those and either pick another workout or use Magic Buckets on my Garmin instead.
Ahh, how could I forget the Companion app! I didn’t even realize that was an option. I’ll definitely check it out today when I do my test. You’re setup is exactly what I need. ChatGPT didn’t come up with this solution…I guess forums (and humans) are still relevant! Thank you!!!
I have encountered the same issue on numerous occasions. My setup is
Garmin 530 Running Xert Workout Player
Connected to my Wahoo Kickr Core for control
Connect to Assiomas and HRM via ANT
Apple TV Running MyWhoosh
Connected to Assiomas and HRM via BT
I have tried so many times to alter my recommended workout and have it pushed to my Garmin. I have on occasion managed to override the recommended workout, but this is the exception not the rule. I have tried:
Avoiding using the phone app because it seems to always fall back to the recommended app, so I worried it was overriding the workout pushed to the server
Deleted the recommended workout and scheduled my own
Modified the recommended workout through the planner
Sometimes it works, but most of the time, it fails. My greatest success has been in cycling suggested workouts until the one is selected. This, however, only works when the workout I am after is of a similar type.
