Xert EBC

I’m thinking of selling my nearly new Edge 1030 to get a Karoo 2 to get (what maybe?) the best of both worlds…

@simonthebike why not get a simple smrtphone and spend the rest on a couple of beers after training?

Tried it 2 timeds now, works perfect.

Have you tried it outside yet?

Yup, over last weekend. 1 ride of 2 hrs, onje ride of 4.5 hrs. Works perfect. Only disadvantage was that I use a quite big/heavy phone for now. Because of the large screen (6.5") it uses quite some battery. However after 4 hrs approximately 60% remaining. However some darkmode for the screen would probably reduce energy-use substantially.

Data available and all was perfect. Combination wit Garmin HRM and Assioma powermeters worked fine.

To be honest, all I could want for now.

Not really sure if it’ds usefull to do the workouts on an outside ride. Maybe if you know the chosen route. What happened to me was some reason to stop/brake just on a point where you did not want that to happen. So this feature will require a lot of long strait roads without obstacles/crossing/traffic probably.

I thought it was supposed to work this way where back arrow restarts the interval you’re currently on and skip forward means “too hard, skip to RIB” or skip several intervals into the future.
I suppose you could support skipping back an interval with double-tap which may explain why it doesn’t work now because tapping twice in a row just restarts the interval each time only a micro second later on the second tap.

The iOS app allows you to click back through all the prior intervals. I have used this quite a bit to extend workouts.

Quick bit of EBC feedback - could you considering having the “% intensity” on ‘AUTO Mode’ be reset to 100% when starting a new workout? When I started my workout today, EBC still had the % intensity set from my last workout.

New version of EBC in Google Play

So glad you’re moving away from Garmin, that is a very smart decision.
Karoo, or whoever else comes out with similar Android based devices, are going to sweep the market from under Garmin/Wahoo feet.

Have you tried Sessions yet?
IMO it’s better than Zwift, TR group workouts, Fulgaz and anything else out there.
Sessions means solo workouts with videos, group or team rides with chat, coaching classes (public or private), Xert Academy lessons, or you name it.

The leaderboard functionality blows Zwift away. First off you are not competing one on one with others but riding within your capabilities compared to others within theirs. Plus you can switch up the board ranking on-the-fly and select many different options (gap, intensity, cadence, focus, etc.).

I didn’t think I would use Sessions having bailed on Zwift and RGT, but now that I have tried a few group Sessions I’m hooked. The workouts go faster and you try harder when things gets tough just because you’re riding with others. Granted there are no avatars but that never appealed to me anyway. Zoom integration is coming too but that doesn’t mean group video necessarily. You may just be watching and listening the host/teacher/coach.

You may want to pick sessions with workouts that closely align with your status stars (or less). Otherwise you will likely need to dial down % at some point to finish all intervals. However, others will be doing the same thing so you won’t feel so bad.

I look forward to weekly sessions when my schedule allows and a workout fits in.
Or to workout and pick up some tips during an Academy lesson.
Or ride solo with a Youtube video anytime I want.
You can also Spotify if that is your thing.

So Sessions was the BIG upcoming thing yes? Somewhat disappointing.

I know for a fact that I’ll never use it. I use my android phone for workouts both with xert ebc and the trainerroad app and don’t plan on changing that.

Just the fact that I’d need to use a laptop takes it out of the equation for me.

I couldn’t get EBC to control my Kickr today via ant+. It was connected but just wasn’t doing anything while in Auto, slope or erg. When everything was connected via BT it was perfect. At first I thought it was because I was running Zwift simultaneously but it was the same without it and I force closed Zwift.

Hi All,

I have 2 wiggly bits with sensors.

  1. I know I need to give location permission first time when connecting a sensor, but at the moment I need to turn on the GPS BEFORE opening the app. If I don’t it doesn’t detect any sensor.

2.My Garmin HR strap is connected but I don’t get any values through the app. The strap is working fine with other gadgets.

For reference: I’m using the latest update (same problem in the last version though). Samsung S21 UI3.

Cheerios

Is the issue with ANT+ sensors only?

Can the app connect to a Garmin speed sensor, and if so, can it also connect to a power meter at the same time?

I’m not using Ant+ only BT.

The app connects to my kickr Core I don’t have any other sensors to connect

Yes, it can. You must have a Garmin sensor with the Bluetooth protocol (some have only the ANT + protocol), or a smartphone that supports the ANT + protocol also.

Not sure why the BLE connection isn’t showing HR.
You should try ANT+ since the S21 specs indicate ANT+ chip onboard and the Dual model strap supports both protocols.
If neither protocol shows a HR number file a support request with support@xertonline.com and they can look into this further.

Cheerios for looking into this.

I’ll drop them an email.

Would it be possible to have a button on the interface to start a lap/interval/segment ? So to have the average power(/cadence/HR) during that lap ? You know, when you do free rides, with no workout planned, but at some point you’d like to push yourself on a portion of your ride, by targeting a specific wattage…
