Xert EBC

I think you want Android 6.1 or higher but I forget why.

That’s what the Karoo is for.
Perhaps someday one of the small/rugged phone brands will add programmable buttons.

Don’t think they plan to do anything like that but powermatch is automatic if you pair power to meter on your bike and trainer control to the trainer.

That’s a real shame as it seems such a simple thing to do . I know about the power match but swapping pedals everyone I go on the turbo is a real pain and the more I do it the more chance I’ve got of stripping a thread. My turbo reads 9% lower than my pedals and the only way if they don’t put this function on the Android would be to mess around post ride with Fitfiletools which is a real oain

The rainbow gauge and analog dial is a thing of beauty, I find it so much easier to stick to power targets when not under trainer control using this as opposed to the pure digital numeric format.

If it’s simple and code they can borrow from the iOS app and affects everyone with pedal power, it’s likely on their to-do list already.

Is there a Change Log for the latest update of EBC?

I will describe a technical “problem” in the “XERT EBC” application. Even the current stable version has not removed it.
What I mean?
Well, when we lock the screen (longer pressure on the screen and select the padlock symbol) so that there is no interaction, e.g. when flooding it with sweat during intense training - then after finishing the training (back), if we forget to unlock the screen (by swipe), then we are in a loop helplessness.
You cannot press “STOP” because the balloon informs us to do a “swpie” which cannot be performed.
The same effect is when you want to press “Continue” - the same is not possible without “swipe” and this, unfortunately, cannot be done because it is blocked.

The only solution is to “kill” the “XERT EBC” application by combining “Home + Kill” and restart it - then it takes us to the activity screen.
The worst thing is that the time of such “inactivity” and spent on unsuccessful attempts to unlock the screen is included in the time of activity / training and then our parameters are … inadequate to the training complexes (just XSS, power, MPA etc.) is spread over the FULL TIME including whipping the application and looking for a solution.

I am asking the authors to look at the problem and solve it effectively.

greetings
Artur

Changes are shown under What’s New when you view the app in the Play Store.
They aren’t going to get more detailed than that as the app is in flux (early access release) and some features haven’t been added yet.

Once developed on the Android platform, do you see taking it iOS? Or has apple become to difficult to deal for approvals? This Android app looks like an awesome setup. Happy with the Garmin 830 and what I’m doing presently but could be swayed to learn an inexpensive Android device, especially if gps sans routing was in the mix.

I can’t quite tell if all model years come with an IPS LCD screen or not.
That will draw more power than OLED especially if a dark mode option is added to EBC in the future.
Am also wondering how the dimmer control will look on IPS versus OLED, but the way Oukitel promotes the WP5 you would think direct sun isn’t going to be a problem. :sunglasses:

Some features of EBC will likely make their way over to iOS, especially features that pertain to Xert Sessions. However, iOS likely won’t have the full feature set that’s available on Android.

It’s rather challenging for us to support these sorts of features on Garmin (building software inside of Garmin’s software) - there’s simply more chances for things to go wrong, and somewhat more difficult for us to support. Some users have managed to make a $15 android phone work with EBC. You can often find older Samsung devices (with ANT+ natively supported even) for reasonable prices. Other members have bought a small, ruggedized android device (like the KingKongMini) to use for the indoor sessions, while retaining the Garmin for outdoor rides… Just trying to provide a few options for you all

Not sure if this has been brought up before but on android the EBC app seems to behave like a browser, my phone asks if I want to open web links (e.g from an email) in chrome or Xert EBC. Any way you can stop this minor irritant? Really good app otherwise, big improvement.

Any plans to include any progression charts or include the xata any further?

Firstly, I apologize if there is a specific thread we are to post issues with EBC to.

When running the app I am not able to step backwards to repeat certain sections of a workout - I can only go forwards. I am using:

Galaxy s6 running Android 7.0 (fully updated)

Regards,
Rob

Between work and sport I’m deep into Mac, iOS and Garmin. An inexpensive (and small) Samsung with ANT+ seems like a viable route to go. I’ll start looking. Thanks. The new additions that the team is rolling out are fantastic!

This is by design so you want to select Always.
EBC isn’t intended to bring the full experience of XO (Xert Online) to your phone although I’m sure we’ll see some additional features over time.
You will notice when you tap on an activity in your history and scroll down there is View Activity button which opens that activity on your XO account.
There you can view the detailed analysis along all the functions of XO such as edit description/weight, modify goals, change freshness feedback, view sessions, connect to this community forum, etc.
Since XO is a responsive design website it works well in any browser whether on your phone, tablet, laptop, or PC.

Which version of EBC are you using? This should have been resolved already, but we’ll double-check.

Most likely not progression charts, as that’s hard to get to display properly (esp. on very small android devices) but were interested in adding the Xert Adaptive Training Program/XATA, similar to the functionality that currently exists inside the iOS app.

We’re looking into this now! Thanks!

I don’t know which models are in a 5" screen size range, but you can select Samsung as a filter in this list of phones with native ANT+ support – Directory - THIS IS ANT
