Uploading route that done in 6 months to xert

Can I upload a route from strava or other platforms and have xert develop workout off of it to improve my time or speed in completion of the ride?

Yup, I did it for a ride I did during Covid lock down and it worked.

No, you cannot upload a route. But what you can do is to upload a previous (all out/hard) ride and train based on your power profile for that ride.

So which is it?

@dreednya

can you please me the steps you did before?

@hpbieker

With AI we should be able to forecast should we not?

There are many ways of riding, Xert cannot possible tell the power required based on a route alone. You might be drafting all the time or being a part of a larger group. Furthermore, you can try to maintain a steady power for the full course or ride hard up the hills and coast down. What you need to train depends on the focus duration for the ride.

Below is a 172 km team race with a double pacelane I participated in. It is basically on/off all the time, and the focus for the ride was Polar Rouleur (6 minutes). I were riding alone, the focus would probably have been Sprint Time-Triallist instead.

If you are able to get data from e.g. best bike split to produce an .erg or .fit file you may use that to find the coresponding focus duration.

Agreed I would try to set it an the later for the whole ride as I know I can do the ride in a certain by myself within a certain timeframe as the race/ride is not a closed course.

@MattNadol I programmed in a hard ride/route I did 3 years ago and XERT has developed me a plan that currently goes until August of next year.

Race
24th August 2025
Mixed Climber
9.1 Minute Power with 42% Specificity

So I chose the race option and then the Race/Event library and went back and chose the hard ride/route I wanted to best.

I think that what your asking is if the route is converted to a slope (like say Zwift routes or virtual routes like Rouvy) then the slope is changed in a way that simulates the road route you intend to ride. Xert is not ideally set up to do that their implementation of slope is not x % per x seconds as it would be for a typical route on a road. Also because the Strava route would not be smooth there are programs that can smooth out the minute changes in slope so that the route is more ridable with a smart trainer. It is doable but as far as I am aware not in the Xert ecosystem. I think you can upload a route to Rouvy and it will generate a ride from it though, but I can not confirm.
