Updating Goal training plan because the forecasted goal is almost complete two months early

My AI Goal plan to increase 10 minute power by Sep 28 is almost complete. I started July 12. See above.

When I go to change program I can update the existing plan with a higher watts goal, but it’s doesn’t add much training load. This is the highest watts it allows while still saying it’s achievable. See below.

Just curious for some opinions if I am adjusting the plan correctly before I hit save?

My guess is XERT wants to respect the ramp rate based off previous training data to prevent burnout. Which might also explain why the weekly training hours don’t increase much either. I have every day available to train for a total of 14hrs per week, and I have set the plan to max out at 12 hours per week, but XERT is prescribing 8-9hr training weeks with one 10hr week before Sep 28. All other settings like recovery are set to the defaults.

I’ve found XFAI goal projections are conservative (a good thing) and it’s not unusual to reach a goal prior to target date.
One thing I’d try is updating the goal past the green text (achievable) into yellow or even red then run the forecast and see what it comes up with. Sometimes that results in an agreeable plan, especially if you are flexible with your hours and have room to add more.

So I uploaded some older activites before updating my current plan and I regret doing so.

I really trusted the first plan Xert gave me, but I wrongly assumed that once you meet the goal of the training plan, the plan would plateau, so I was eager to update it to ensure future progression. Should have just used common sense and saw that the plan still had progressive overload and no matter what the projections were the plan continues on.

A nice feature is any developers are listening would be a “back button” or revert to previous plan option. Even if it’s just an available option for short time window after you make a change. It’s a pretty powerful platform and even the most minor tweak sends things in a new direction it seems.

Anyways if you want to keep reading, before updating the plan I also paid for the year subscription so I could upload older activities. I wanted some older activities to show xert races I have done in the past that I have on my calendar in the coming months, so the new update could work around those training loads.

Well my fitness signature changed and showed me as way fitter then I am. So I deleted them, and recalculated my fitness signature from the profile settings page using the signaure data i took a screenshot of before the changes.

But the recalculate still spit out some really high power numbers. So I just went ahead and updated the plan even though I knew the power numbers were wrong just in case that somehow balanced things out.

But the new plan removed the rest week the old one had planned, and just a steady ramp up in training load, but with way less intensity. Looked almost like a base phase plan. Tried messing with the sliders and still never looked right.

So I reset my account and started over again. Now my fitness signature looks the way it did before I started monkeying around, but the plan still looks very base heavy. Lots of 2hr + rides with only low xss required.

I eventually got it back to something I like, and I think I am back on track now. Hopefully by the end of the week the old plan will be a distant memory and I will feel like i’m in the groove of this new plan.

Thanks for listening to my rant.
