New to Xert, just a few weeks in. Did an outside ride for the first time in a while. It was mostly endurance/tempo pace, but I did an all out sprint at the end, hitting 1200w. This gave me a breakthrough, bumping Peak Power from 1020 → 1200. But curiously, my TP calc went from 285 (which seemed about right) to 255.
Any idea why it would do this?
And, what kind of workout or ride should I do to re-establish it at 285?
Quite similarly to my thread about breakthroughs earlier.
I never sprint, so my PP (and also MPA) based on historic activities was low. then I achieved a breakthrough during a 8 min effort because MPA at some point far exceeded what I should have available. My TP was set too high however (20w higher than previous FTP).
My understanding was because PP was lowballed it didn’t have the correct signature. So I did a sprint test in Zwift and achieved 800w. My treshold went -18w and was far more accurate.
Your feeling seems to be opposite (but beware TP could be correct). You could do one of Xerts breakthrough workouts to calibrate…
Search the Library for “fitness test” (in quotes) and pick one.
If indoors ride it in Slope mode exceeding duration and target watts (if able) and make sure to reach a failure point on any intervals designed for that purpose.
There is a relationship between PP, HIE, and TP so that adjustment behavior is to be expected.
