Hi, I’m wondering if Race AI takes into account ‘endurance fatigue’ (or durability), or is purely driven by MPA / fitness signature? Eg if I have a long eg 1.5hr hard climb at 95% of threshold 3 hours into a race, will that be considered achievable (since it’s below threshold / not drawing down MPA), or not (because my ability to ride at 95% threshold is reduced over time (glycogen depletion etc).
I guess even if not explicitly taken into account, it may be implicit in the power file (assuming I find someone with similar fitness) I.e. they will probably also hold a lower % of threshold on that final climb too…? In that case, it’s another factor to consider when choosing the power profile
If you’re using someone else’s race file, then yes, the long-term fatigue is likely indirectly taken into account in the original file. ‘Durability’ is also indirectly accounted for via the ‘Event Readiness’ value. For example, both a 2-star and 4.5 star athlete could complete a 300 XSS event, but we would expect the 4.5 star athlete to be more durable.
Also, if you are planning for a longer race/event, you can also try tweaking the ‘Carbs per Hour’ setting and ensuring that you keep below ~60-75g carbs/hr (or the maximum that you feel you can replenish) so you can stay on top of your nutrition during the event:
