Onboarding steps for Xert trial users and newbies

So this one is OK then, since it is no #MIXEDMODE?

Yes, many SMART workouts will successfully export as %FTP blocks to ride on Zwift.
Some intervals may be a bit easier/harder than they would be on EBC but XSS strain goal will be close enough. The charts will clue you in.

Or compare the workout details chart on Xert –

With details on Zwift –

Another quick check is the max target watts will match. That number will be shown in upper right on Zwift when you view the workout details or when you hover over an interval on Xert.

That workout worked well in Zwift. Very tough one!

Hi. Program Page is confusing to me.

On training page I have yellow stars. The suggested workout of the day is Endurance. I have moderate-1, focus 3min, deficit 127 xss.

When I look into the program page, it is confusing. Even though I am suggested to do Endurance, it is High, Peak, HIE, PP, 3min that has improved values for today. I must be looking at this page totally wrong because I have no idea what it is trying to tell me.

Tried to find some video or other topic discussing how to decode this page but I couldn’t find one.

Thank you

The Training tab page is your current status, form, and advice for the day.
The Program tab reflects today’s values based on your program type. Yours is set to Continuous ATP with 3 min (Pursuiter) Focus.
Open the Table View in the TL section to see Low, High, Peak columns for Start, Today, Forecast, and Final.
If you drag the slider to the right the Projected dot O moves to reflect projected changes from Today’s values (solid dot) .
Or tap Infinity+6 above the slider to see projected numbers 6 wks from now.*
This assumes you “stay the course” for the next 6 wks at current ramp rate and Focus, doing what you have been doing. That might change though. For example, your schedule changes, you decide to change Focus Power target, or manipulate ramp rate up/down to perform a block of training with a rest week.

*With an XFAI forecast the Progam chart changes are more nuanced because a forecast populates the Planner and lays out expected daily TL targets from today through your target date.

Time for another Question. I don’t have any Garmin device but I would like to start using Magic Buckets, to more easily see how much more High Power and Peak Power time I shuld do before ending it for the day. What kind of Garmin device do I need? So many different types and models. I am not too price sensitive, just want a good one for MB only, together with Zwift. I never ride outdoors

Now that Magic Buckets has been finalized for Garmin Connect IQ, I’m sure the next development target will be an update to EBC.
I don’t know when that will occur but it would be hard to justify the purchase of a Garmin Edge device if I never planned to ride with it outdoors. There will be tons of features you’ll never use.
I find an 830 meets my needs for running XMB. Others prefer the 10x0 series for better visuals.

If you really never ride outdoors and want to use buckets. I would suggest getting the cheapest (maybe used) from the compatible devices list.
Maybe you can get a cheap one and even if the battery is dead you can keep it running connected via usb (I assume its possible with all Garmin’s. At least my 520 plus does).

I got myself a used 1030 today, but in prestine condition. Who knows, maybe its fun and makes me want to ride outdoor this summer

If I start paying for Xert, how long Stava history will Xert consider? During free trial it was 3 months. Do I need to do anything in order to load a longer history, or is that automagic?

You can request older activities from Strava up to 3 years. Check our FAQ for step by step instructions on that: Synchronizing Older Strava Activities – Xert

Does it make any difference if I load 3 years of history into Xert, or will my profile more or less remain the same, with the exception that I have many more activities in the activities list?

My favorite answer… haha, it depends! I would recommend syncing historical activity only if it has valid power data. When you upload older activities, Xert will recalculate your current data based on those older activities and look for breakthroughs in the process. We call this the “trickle-down” effect.

If you do decide to upload older activities, be sure to check that the data is valid—look out for any power meter spikes or unusually high readings, which could be caused by things like a low battery.

After importing, I’d strongly recommend reviewing your XPMC chart and keeping an eye out for any unexpected jumps in your Threshold Power. If you notice any strange spikes or unusually high values, it’s a good idea to check if the activity file that triggered the breakthrough contains any bad power data. If it does, it’s best to delete that activity to avoid skewing your results.

New question here.
Today Xert says I am tired and suggest Pure Endurance. All suggested workouts are Endurance.

If I change the Freshness feedback to 7, I get blue stars and Xert says I am fresh and suggest pursuiter workout, but all the suggested workouts are still Pure Endurance. Is this by design or is there a way I can get suitable Pursuiter workouts suggested, instead of the Endurance workouts?

The slider should change the listings based on difficulty level. I’ve reported the issue.
You can alternately use Filter and select Focus type along with Load More to view more choices.
In Continuous it’s a good idea to change things up on occassion.
I’ve discovered some of my favorite workouts that way.

In your example calculated form is tired into tomorrow (yellow triangle on Trainer Pacer) so only endurance would be recommended. If this isn’t matching how you feel day to day and you want tp dial up the intensity, consider adjusting the Recovery Demands slider to the left for less recovery.

thank you

If I change slider Freshness Feedback to a level where the stars gets blue and my status change to fresh and I am advised that I should consider a Pursuiter workout, I am still only getting endurance as recommended workouts, even if I load more workouts, they are all endurance.

I can survice but it would be awsome if Xert changed recommended workout to my focus (Pursuiter) so that the MBA buckets gets correct. Now I only get the endurance gui in MBA and no targets for High/Peak

The FF slider only affects the recommended list and not the top-level advice.
However, as long as you pick a HIT workout Magic Buckets will start up in Intervals mode.
If you don’t see what you want on the recommended list use Filter and/or Load More to locate and select a HIT workout. You can do that with Play Now on the Training page or add the workout to the Planner.

I changed FF sider so I am all blue-stars but both the AI generated workout and the recommended list still only give Endurance, even if I am advised Pursuiter. I will try to use the filter and find a suitable Pursuiter workout.

What does the fitness planner show for your training status? If you’re yellow, I could imagine that might be why Xert is suggesting Endurance.

If I move FF to 0, I get yellow stars and the suggestion Endurance, which makes sense.
If I move FF to 5 (example), the stars get blue and I get suggested Pursuiter workout, but the workout list to the right still only gives endurance workouts to select. I would expect that if they stars are blue and I am suggested Pursuiter, the suggested workouts should be Pursuiter.
Else I have no idea what the purpose is of the FF slider.
Of course I can apply filter and find any workouts I want but I would assume AI would adapt to what I have done and what I claim is my freshness so if I say my freshness is X making the stars blue, the suggested workouts would adapt accordingly.
