It was in sim mode on Zwift. Iām not sure what that workout is but I was doing 3 sets of 8:00 - 30/30s while keeping the 30s off at a moderate pace. This is what the On / Off looked like for the first set. Do you find the TP and LTP number to be fairly accurate? For reference it gave me 409/361. The day before this ride (Saturday) I did 6 hours with a 40 minute high tempo block at 385 early in the ride + 4 x 5:00/1:00 tempo late in the ride.
Hard to tell if it is accurate. But looking from the intervals I suspect you could go even further as the last interval was just as hard as the previous intervals (same power and duration). If you extended the duration or the power, you would have gotten a even better signature. You might want to try one of the fitness tests in Xert. Make sure you do it in slope mode.
Thank you for all the insight! It is definitely an awesome tool but a lot to learn coming from the traditional model.
Hi I got this breakthrough during a 12:30 min climb with 301 watts. It would be my best valuesā¦ā¦TP 284, LTP 241. I canāt believe it. My garmin did not mention new FTP after that ride.
I find it difficult to achieve breakthroughs with longer loads. Before I reach a BT, my legs hurt so much that I have to stop. I can only achieve BTs with repeated sprints.
Is my Fitness Signature still meaningful?
Is it really a breakthrough when I donāt see anywhere that MPA has dropped below the current power?
The plot shows MPA with your new signature. To look at MPA with the current signature when you performed the activity click on the button named Previous right under the chart on the activity page.
Thank you very much. I can already see it there.
I just finished up a week riding in Mallorca. Still feeling a bit jet lagged from the flight but gave it a full effort today and felt great! I still had a bit more in the tank but got some really bad luck with a long red light. Getting closer to that 5W/KG goal.
A local ride today. Thought Iād share. Critique is welcome. I have been riding for less than a year and have been alone (so I have nothing to compare to).
Well done on the gold BT
Good news is that I would say your signature is even a bit higher than you expressed here, because the difficulty score is basically off the chart⦠i.e. shouldnāt be possible with an accurate signature.
I would try for another BT next time you feel fresh (and soon ish)
I live in coastal Florida so no mountains. BUT I just landed in California (for work) and I brought my bike. There is an area near with about 2000ā elevation change. Maybe Iāll see another BT
Hereās one that is very flattering but I think Iāll have to flag, otherwise Iāll never complete the workouts.
+30w or 11.5% FTP increase from a single 2m 30s effort. Very flattered, super happy with the short effort as I could have gone slightly further if the hill had continued, but not sure Iām truly worthy or capable of a 4.66w/kg FTP⦠more 4w/kg on a good day.
Abrupt stop BTs (ex. sprint finish) or situations when you could have given more but terrain or traffic prohibited a natural failure point are often a good reason to flag the activity.
OTOH it appears you are ready to express a change to your signature.
Consider riding the standardt fitness test workout outdoors (or indoors in Slope mode) to prove that.
Even if you donāt achieve a BT youāll know how close your signature is dialed in.
I take it you have auto-pause enabled on your head unit and those were planned stops?
In the last two weeks Iāve not been training, doing very little. This was just a very easy z2 group ride, slightly hungover, so the stops were regroup points. I tend to ride with slower social groups outside, then sprinkle in a few short efforts⦠the breakthrough came from a single effort up a short 700 metre hill with 2 min at avg 410w or 6.4wkg⦠I see that Iāve set a new 2m power record, but cannot see this as a 30w TP increase, itās one of those where my 1-3m power has increased through Zwift racing and magic buckets intervals, but I definitely canāt hold these watts for 10 to 20 minutes. On another platform I can see that this has caused a blip in my power curve from 1:40 to 2:20m, these power intervals now seem to be my sweetspot, which may reflect that the training is working, my program is currently set to 4m power Puncheur.
This then gets me thinking. Because my focus is Puncheur, should I leave the TP at the higher number because I can train to this on shorter efforts (which is my focus), and then just ignore/accept the fact that I canāt do this power for 10-20m because that isnāt my focus, ie. if Iām training Puncheur, then I should expect my 2-5m power affective TP to be much higher than my 20m affective TP?
Had to force myself out for a ride with zero motivation, but ended up hitting gold breakthrough (nothing spectacular, but still not bad!). Have a great weekend, everyone!
Just wanted to share a small win as I continue rebuilding my fitness after some time off the bike⦠life with a little one will do that to you, I guess!
Snagged a breakthrough in the middle of my Saturday long ride Not only was it nice to see some numbers moving in the right direction again, but what really made it special is that Iāve been freestyling my rides using Magic Buckets. Honestly, itās been such a great way to keep things fun and flexible while still hitting my daily training targets. No rigid structure ā just riding how I feel, pushing some hills and segments, and letting the system adaptively guide me along the way. Loving the process!
Looking forward to seeing everyone elseās breakthroughs ā itās inspiring! Keep āem coming!
What do you make of this ride as a good validation of signature? Did you pedal to exhaustion on the BT effort? Did the latter sprints help ādial inā the sig? Thanks in advance.
