Let's See Your BREAKTHROUGHS! 💥

So, last week I did a fake-trough, holding back, trying to fill my buckets. Then I did a rare break through on zwift. Today, it was above zero outside. Maybe the PM is off, but my gut feeling from riding with a PM for 20 years is that it makes sense. Much more sense than the forecast AI prediction. :grinning:

Another week, another breakthrough. Didn’t go for a breaktrough today, but rather just go hard all the way to work without compromising safety. Quite a bit of trouble spots where you can’t pedal hard.

Forecast ai missed a bit again  But training seems to go well, so I’m not complaining.

I’d be very surprised if I am back next week, but we’ll see.

New user, trying to sort all of this out. Today I did my first Magic Buckets interval while riding in MyWhoosh. Not sure if I did it correct, but I did have a silver breakthrough at the end.

Hopefully I didn’t go too hard, but hard days should be hard?

Got an unexpected breakthrough today. Feeling like spring flu might be on me and was planning to take it easy (but as usual - full gas after few minutes) I’m quite surprised by the new threshold power estimate ( zwift also threw my FTP up by 15, intervals by 8)

Used the “Under Pressure” fitness test to go for a breakthrough today and was pleased with the result. I’m currently using XFAI to increase my 6-min power with a 2-month plan duration. I’ve been on the plan for three weeks and after this breakthrough I’ve already busted through the plan’s power target. Interestingly, in prior breakthroughs, I have always put in about a 10 min steady-state effort above threshold followed by a few sprints, and in those prior efforts, Intervals.icu has always detected an FTP within 10W or so from TP as detected by Xert. In this last breakthrough, the test was structured differently, with shorter bursts of higher power, and Intervals.icu’s detected FTP was 30W lower than Xert’s TP.

You can’t really compare the results since Xert uses MPA to derive your signature values versus traditional FTP test protocols to determine FTP.

Breaking Through the Xert Way! – Xert

Wow! I am shocked at seeing some of these HUGE TP increases! I am guessing a lot of new users? Regardless good job all!

I just got my most recent BT

I have been on a Xert AI planner/program since December and the TP I am at now is expected to be for my A-race in 3-weeks. I never argued or fussed about my stats going up or down but just updated when I saw pink and followed the plan (kept consistent power meters also).

I did this while loosing some significant weight! I would say, the system works pretty well!

The good news: I surpassed my plan goal a month earlier… :boom:

The bad news: I discovered that the hot water in my house is broken and I had to take a cold shower.

You were right on the limit twice in this ride! And a max difficulty of 194! Ouch - well done! Time to update your training plan & reach for a higher goal

Yes thanks!!
The first goal was to attack the 6 minutes of my plan target, then my motivation went up along with my MPA and decided to try peak power and after that… just why not keep going and make my MPA empty again!

That’s supposed to improve your performance.
Try it for a week and let us know how it goes.

Yes, that’s what I thought when I decided to fix it after my shower (my motivation and self-esteem were high after such a ride)… but 1 minute later I regretted it

Outdoor ride. Last breakthrough was 4 weeks ago.

I never do structured training. I always ride with the Magic Buckets and fill them during my ride. My first idea was “just go for the interval power and keep going until breakthrough” but that was physically impossible, lol. Had to give it several tries with short rest between so MPA didn’t fully recover. Managed to breakthrough 4 times, which is of course reduced to 1 post-ride.

Near breakthroughs on Monday and Wednesday just doing intervals. Motivated me to do an actual Breakthrough today to get back what I lost (and then some):

And we’re back 2 days later

Tried again, and this time got 6 breakthroughs in a row on the Garmin Magic Buckets data field.

Got this one a couple of days ago, just going for a sprint section on Zwift…

Cheeky little pull-down BT round the park today.
A question though (for context, 47yo, 85kg, 280W, 950W, 20kj signature) every year with a decent few months training (riding, really) block I can get my TP up to 280/290W, indeed it seems easier to get their every year, but year on year my HIE seems to be dropping. I do broadly the same riding, put in the same sort of digs. Is this just a function of ageing, or is something else at play? PP seems to get to similar levels as previously.

I was getting a bit concerned about my fitness signature, it had continued to drop recently but yet I felt like I was improving as I was able to better hang on and be competitive in zwift races! This week on Tues in ZRL I got the first gold breakthrough and then on Weds I followed this up with another gold in a club ladder race!

I have only been using Xert for a couple months and love it so far! I am curious how accurate people find the TP and LTP number? This was my most recent breakthrough yesterday.

Congratulations!

It looks like you got the breakthrough on you final interval in the first set of A Pain That I Am Used To. You might have gotten a different signature if the last interval was longer or you had one more interval.

Did you run the workout in slope mode?
