How to Add Weight Training into a Forecast AI Plan

In April, I completed my first-ever event using Xert. Over a three-month period, I followed the Forecast AI plan and successfully hit my goal. Now I’m gearing up to use Forecast AI again, and I have a few questions based on my previous experience:

I’d like to add resistance work into my next cycle, specifically the Weight Training – Legs workout.

  1. Should I schedule a single instance of “Weight Training – Legs” for each leg-day at the gym? Or do I need to customize it—adjusting volume or duration—based on how long I’m in the gym?

  2. When I schedule gym days in Forecast AI, should I: Set my available training time to zero for those days and then manually add the “Weight Training – Legs” workout afterward? Or directly replace that day’s prescribed workout with the weight-training session?

Any advice on the best way to integrate resistance sessions into Forecast AI would be greatly appreciated!

Have you found a reliable approach? I’ve been using Xert for a year now, and it’s really boosted my cycling. But I just can’t find a good way to incorporate strength training.

You can add your weight training as planned/completed workouts using the Planner. These will get included as part of your overall training and will be factored into how your training gets planned. I’ve used the Weight Training workout myself as a general XSS filler that slows down my higher intensity training days when I add them. You can create your own workouts as well if you find the XSS allocation could be improved for the gym work that you do.

I usually substitute the short intense days, but I may try this way instead.
