Front Loaded vs Back Loaded Workouts

As it’s winter there is a lot of focus on endurance zone 2 training, right around LTP. Should we front load these with efforts or back load these workouts. My thought being that if I front load these with some hard z4+ efforts it will take too long to get back into zone 2 even though heart rate and power are in zone 2. If I only care about XSS than I know front loading will result in a higher number, but not as much time training zone 2. Thoughts…

I believe the current thinking is to back load if you must as it takes too long to return to zone 2 if you front load thus nullifying the gains you are trying to make by having a zone 2 ride.
