Forecast AI for triathlon

I would like to know what the best option would be for preparing for a flat course half ironman triathlon using forecast AI. That is for a flat 90K time-trial. I see no options for that in the event drop-down. Neither for any other type of triathlon race. You can probably use “criterium” for a Sprint or Olympic draft legal triathlon, but that’s about it. Unless I have missed other options.

Any suggestions on how to program for such an event using forecast AI?

Bringing this thread up - is there a suggested way to use XFAI for time-trialist/20min power focus?

Bringing this back up-any recommendations using Xert for Triathlon up to olympic distance..

i am usually self trained , but gave xert a try after quitting 2 years ago..

any tips?

How far away is the event?
I don’t have any tri experience but for mostly flat 40k TTs (~hour @ near-threshold) a viable XFAI option would be:

  • Goal
  • Sprint TT (20 minute power)*
  • Whatever watt increase you can muster between now and event date**
  • Mixed Specificity

*If lots of rollers or climbs will be a factor, consider GC Specialist or Climber Focus for a bump in High intensity work.

**You can slide past green text (Achievability) into yellow or even red warning and see if a forecast is successful. That tightens a plan so less flexibility to swap or miss days.

Since your cycling profile isn’t going to factor in strain from your swims/run profiles you’ll need to adjust suggested workouts if those activities affect your recovery load.
If a forecast plan becomes unbalanced a red dot warning will appear suggesting to you may want to run Adapt Forecast.

Well, i am still very disappointed….i raced for 75 minutes, all out….it does not bother me, that it is no breakthrough, but after the race, it still marked me fresh…i change to very tired…this morning, i am fresh again….according to xert…i quite do not understand the use case for this ai….? i end up contrlling all my workout by myself, it suggested another huge tss workout today, without taking the race yesterday into account…regarding the race it is in two weeks….but its a c-race…no big deal, i just want to understand how to use xert better..currently it puts more work on my planning and watching…

Post a screenshot of the 75-minute power chart or make the activity public (Share, Public) and post the link.

A breakthrough will not occur unless you spend sufficient time above MPA. That is unlikely during a TT as the goal isn’t to try and blow up especially not during the middle leg of a tri event.

If you’re using XATA Continuous the calendar is blank and daily recommendations reflect calculated form (v. tired to v. fresh) based on your recovery load (low, high, peak).
Without sufficient high/peak strain (above TP) and associated recovery load, a rapid return to fresh form is expected.
Or you might ride considerably more low intensity than usual pushing into red/yellow form the next day.
The daily XSS goal (not TSS  ) is tied to your recent history (what you normally ride on same day of week), the improvement rate you’ve set (XSS progression), and Focus type.
XATA includes a Training Pacer gauge and Remaining Recovery indicator with a Freshness Feedback option.
If calculated form consistently runs contrary to how you feel, you can move the Recovery Demands slider a couple clicks to the right. This assumes your activities include enough high/peak strain to warrant the adjustment. If your events are primarily sub-threshold, you would manually adjust Freshness Feedback instead whenever calculated form does not match how you feel the next day.

thanks for your help: Xert - Activity | Zwift - Race: Sydkysten Race (C)

do not know if it works..
