Hello,
I need help adjusting my training plan for upcoming races.
What focus would you choose for timed climbs lasting around 30 minutes?
Iād go with sustained power for a 30 min climb. It seems more useful than working on short efforts. Maybe try doing a few training rides that are close to race lenght too. Hope it goes well!
Great, thanks for the advice.
You can upload a fit file from one of these races and see what focus this was. 30 min@threshold might not be the fastest way to do a 30 min climb as you want to push harder the steeper it gets and ārecoverā on flatter bits. My guess would be a shorter focus (6-20m depending on the profile).
Great!
Very interesting ā I have a record of my past races in Xert and was able to select one.
Xert is now suggesting a 10.9-minute āMix Climberā programme for this first uphill time trial, after I chose a small improvement in average speed of 0.5 km/h compared to last year.
However, I donāt get any threshold training when I simulate MB sessions; I quite like MB sessions, but it never suggests any threshold training.
It suggests LTP and high-intensity sessions with 30-second intervals at around 350 watts.
Iām happy to try training without doing any threshold work, but will I perform as well as I did last year? Because last year I did one threshold session a week.
