First time using Magic Buckets

I tried MB today on an outside ride. I am not on a plan and I don’t really follow Xert workout recommendations.
Firstly, it worked. Previously, using a Garmin 830 it hadn’t. But I had resynced with Garmin Express and all was good,

Screen display was very clear, although not 100% for me, who does need reading glasses, which I do not wear for cycling.
I could see the main fields and managed to hit my low and peak targets but not my high. More later
As I become more familiar with the screen I am sure it will all become clearer.

I then decided on a second ride, indoors, about 5 hours later. I set up my Garmin and was surprised to see that it was targeting the same numbers as I had done earlier. I do not think that is a bug/issue as it would not expect me to do a second workout on the same day.

The problem I had in both rides was understanding what numbers I had to hit for High target. I either seemed to improve low or peak but never the middle one.

I do need to do more investigation but overall I was very impressed.

I don’t think my large number idea is feasible. XMB has reached the maximum memory supported on Connect IQ for most Edge devices. Something would have to be removed to add any new feature.

As long as you are hitting the target watt range indicated for work and rest intervals, the buckets should fill in near equal proportion.
That assumes you decide to perform the interval portion of your ride after a warm-up, but you could do them at any time during the ride.
For endurance rides the goal is to stay within 75-100% of your LTP to raise Zone % (percentage of time in that zone) and for the bar above Zone to show mostly blue. Below and above that “zone” will show as black on the bar.

Unfortunately I can’t share the video file here (maybe too large), but I posted a sped up video of me filling my buckets using the data field on Monday to our Xert Users Facebook group.

You might find it interesting!

Here’s the annotated MPA chart that I posted there as well - I think it does a good job of highlighting the differences of doing intervals at different Challenge Levels (CLs):
