Breakthrough necessary?

Hello, new to Xert and kind of getting to like it vs TR.

Is it possible to actually see progress of TP without breakthroughs ?

My goal is progressive gain in sustainable power, currently 260w aiming 275w between now and feb next year. I’ve used the forecast AI but don’t see any workouts that push me into the breakthrough territory.

Thanks for any guidance

Xert will adjust your fitness signature (TP, HIE, and PP) based on the training load, but it will normally see the values decline. So go for a breaktrhough every so often.

If you go to your account settings and change it to No Decay. No Decay progresses based on training load. I use it when I do longer base periods and its pretty close, whenever I decide to do a breakthrough.

The signature calc algorithm was updated in November last year to reduce triggering of BT events when left at the default setting of Optimal Decay.
You can go for months without a BT and get an accurate fitness signature.
The update also reduced the occurrence of Near Breakthroughs which some users found discouraging but really only meant your signature was close to dialed in.
When I do go for a BT nowadays I don’t often get one because my signature is already accurate from the daily adjustments. That doesn’t mean I can’t generate one but I need to be especially fresh and motivated. For others a hard group ride or ZRL event will do it. :grimacing:

Oh wow thanks :pray:t2:
What is the recommended decay setting now?
Thank you

I’ve been using ‘Slow Decay’ for several years now with good results!

BTW, no need to recalculate progression - just change decay method and ‘Save’

I will change my decay setting based on that advice
