When using the Forecast AI Beta, the home page always reports that I am “fresh.” Behind the scenes, though, the system seems to recognize when I am tired, and will suggest active recovery. I suppose I don’t really need colored stars to tell me how I’m feeling, but this seems like an easy fix.
Hi Jim!
Assuming you haven’t adjusted Freshness Feedback slider far to the right, this is intended behaviour. Maybe you could share an image of your XPMC over the past ~6 weeks so? That might give us a better idea of your training history!
For what it’s worth, the AI aspect of the new Forecast AI program allows Xert to look not only back on what you have done, but on what you will need to do in the coming days. This allows the system to recommend just enough training (low, high, & peak) for today without impacting your ability to train in the future!
Freshness feedback is at 0, though I had considered sliding it to the left.
I have an aggressive goal for my 60th birthday in February (~6% increase in 8-minute power). The plan just started on 21 July 2024. I am finding the load challenging, but achievable. After 18 months of stagnation with TrainerRoad, I’m really pleased to see improvements!
Also post your XPMC chart which includes TL.
Thanks Jim! Good work. From what I can see, your Training Load is increasing, which is good! I can also see that most of your rides are almost exclusively Low XSS (note the matchsticks are mostly blue). And it looks like the XSS from your rides is just a little more than your training load, which means that you should mostly be able to recover from these rides in a relatively short amount of time - think about it this way, your TL represents what you do on average, each day.
A few things:
- You’ll only achieve “Tired” status (yellow stars) after you accrue a decent amount of High/Peak XSS, which basically occurs after a high-intensity workout or ride.
- If you mostly/only do low intensity training, then you’ll find yourself bouncing between Fresh (Blue stars) & Very Tired (Red stars).
If you’re feeling more tired than Xert is calculating, you might experiment with moving with the Recovery Demands slider towards “more recovery”. Recovery Demands is a permanent setting that applies to your freshness every day in the XPMC & Planner, while FF only applies to your current freshness & training recommendations.
I also noticed that you enabled the auto-adjust program difficulty. Given that you’re a ~2 star rating, Xert won’t be giving very hard High-Intensity workouts. You can try disabling that setting and returning program difficulty to the default of 100, which will make your high-intensity trainings a little harder (but also more time-efficient).
Cheers!
