in june I’m doing a 4 day +120km each day event, what is the best way to set the training planner?
I’m used to doing 3 day rides at consecutive 50km-110km-50km, or 2x120km so i’m mainly curious if there is a better way to prepare vs the general “get into a good shape for +150km rides”.
is there a recommended setting in your experiences? eg how do i set the low/mid/high numbers, do i make the recovery requirements extra small to train on efforts with llittle recovery? Do I put extra emphasis on endurance base miles this winter (started 4xweekly indoor rides early october).
tips are welcome, It’s in the lovely south of France, so i’m sure it’ll be a lot of fun, ideally I can still put in a solid “attack” on day 4 (I’s a friendly group ride event, so all is relative
I would set the planner for a hilly Gran Fondo or Gravel event and make the event duration as long as possible before you get the warning that Xert can’t find a plan. I’d make sure that in the run up to the event you schedule some longer rides on back to back days, you can do this by pinning outdoor activities to your planner and then adapting the plan.
Frequency of training is important as well as total volume for these sorts of events, it’s good to spread the load over say five days with three or four shorter workouts and a long ride, over a couple of midweek workouts and then a massive ride on the weekend, You’ll recover better and be able to do a bit more intensity. As you get nearer to next June, build your longer rides up a bit more.
