XERT W/out Player and Garmin EDGE 1040 Plus

Hi everyone and happy new Year !
During random searches on the net, I found some good opportunities for purchase the new Garmin Edge 1040 Plus, (not solar). But… the compatibility w/ the XERT Workout Player, is OK ? Before proceeding with the purchase, I would like to be sure **of total compatibility of EDGE 1040 with XERT Player, for me it is essential.
