IMHO you will really want to get magic buckets working on your Edge for outdoor activities. Magic Buckets is super useful to hit your targets when working outside.

Thanks GT, I’ll keep this in mind! I’m new to using an Edge so it’ll be awhile before I get comfy with how I can make use of the various features it provides. Getting the Varia I bought earlier this year paired with my iPhone was tricky enough! The small screen and buttons on the Edge take some getting used to they do… next’ll be sussing out whether I can use both Edge and iPhone at the same time whilst riding.
I exclusively ride indoors now (not my preferred option) and I set a plan and then ride either Rouvy or FulGaz routes to hit the MB targets. I find Rouvy much easier because of their coloured gradient lines. I just time the high and peak efforts to the red gradient lines.
