Are you referring to the data fields below the rainbow gauge?
I don’t have a Karoo but one of my devices is a Palm phone that has a similar sized screen although the Palm is higher resolution.
As for the data fields my suggestion to accommodate those with vision issues would be to nix the qualifier text and use a taller font within the same box.
For example, no need to see G for grams, W for watts, etc.
The title of the field is sufficient (Calories, Speed, Distance, etc.) to understand what the value means.
This could be a setting under Options call Tall Fonts.

The other option would be to add a setting called Large Fields which when selected changes the layout under Recording Screens to 4 frames per page instead of 6. That would allow both a taller and wider font. Again, nix the qualifier text although in this case that text could be added to field title such as Distance/KM, Speed/MPH, Cadence/RPM, Temp/F, Battery/%, etc. I imagine the font size could be 50% larger or more.
This would mean swiping through more pages to view all possible fields but you’d likely define your favorite fields within the first three pages.

Another option would be to offer dark mode which may resolve the issue for those seeking higher contrast without changing anything about the fields. Bright yellow, neon green or white text on a black background may suffice.

Any thoughts?

These are great suggestions.

The main workout screen is what I use for actionable information and that is where I see opportunity for improved legibility. If I swipe the bottom half of the screen the information isn’t clear but I can read it. If that was the baseline font size for all fields (not labels) that would probably be good enough.

Examples for the main workout screen: The TGT and NEXT fields looks like it could accommodate a larger size font as well as the WORKOUT TIME and REMAINING with a bit of optimization. Like ridegerider2 mentioned, field labels could be minimized or toggled off once not needed/memorized. Also, if the icons for HR and Cadence were below the actual values there would be space to increase the fonts for both as well.

Just some observations on usability for those of us who need readers…

The lack of a lap feature that shows average power and heart rate during a lap is a show stopper.

Suggestions –

Pulse Mode
This would list as an option under Auto-Dim that can be tapped ON/OFF.
When enabled the screen “pulses” on every 30 seconds based on your Auto-Dim setting.
For example, if Auto-Dim is set to 15 sec and Pulse is set to ON then every 30 seconds the screen brightens as though you had tapped it. In this example the screen would be bright for 15 seconds, then dimmed for 30 seconds, and repeat until you disable Pulse.

I would use this on long climbs and interval efforts while free riding where I don’t need to see the screen all the time but don’t want to have to tap it either.
You just want the ability to glance at the screen while riding harder sections such as on the drops in aero position or when hammering or struggling on a steep climb. I would also use this mode on gravel roads (two hands on deck).
A 30 second gap seems about right to me. I don’t think it needs to be configurable but if others want that it could be 15, 30, or whatever seconds as a separate setting next to ON/OFF.

Battery Check
This would be listed under Options. Tap ON/OFF. Or make it automatic anytime any one sensor battery is low.
When enabled a screen appears at the end of every activity as you tap SAVE that lists your connected sensors along with their battery levels. This could be the same battery image shown under Sensors. Main function is to indicate which sensor batteries are critically low with the important ones being HR and power. You would tap OK or BACK to close the form.

MPA draw down alert sound
Not sure if EBC makes a sound already but if so I haven’t heard it. I have only seen the message alert you tap to acknowledge/dismiss.
I would like to hear a clanging similar to the bell lap on a race course.
As soon as MPA flat lines start ringing the bell and keep ringing it to let you know it’s time to push things for as long as you can. Depending on circumstances that might be until end of current of interval, or during a BT workout to failure right before you should sprint, or outdoors while cresting a hard climb or during a group sprint.
As soon as MPA starts to rise again the bell stops.
Ideally one clang per half-second so you can count the clangs if you want or to give you a sense of time for your effort.
Needs to be an ON/OFF entry under Options or some people may freak out.
I think this feature would serve as an audible incentive to go for broke. Go! Go! Go! (Clang! Clang! Clang!)
During a Ronnestad it would be “Come on! You can do another bell lap. And another…”

Agreed, with a little modification. The frequency of how often the bell rings should vary with the MPA draw down, the closer to a breakthrough the faster the rate.

I would love to see ‘Elapsed Workout Time’, ‘Total Remaining Time’ and ‘Remaining Interval Time’ as options in the Recording Screen menu.

I agree that taping the magnifying glass is difficult to change the view from a rolling window to the entire workout. Taping the field box would be much more intuitive and easier. Perhaps a setting for how long the rolling window is would be a nice addition.

I’ve got a suggestion on the Android Xert EBC app (just updated to latest). The + and - buttons for adjusting intensity/slope/ERG/etc are pretty laggy and unresponsive, which makes it difficult to quickly adjust the workout. Being able to quickly change parameters would be nice - whether that’s a scrollwheel or directly entering numbers would be cool.

May be a trainer issue more so than the app. What brand/model trainer?
I tested ERG, resistance, and slope modes with my trainer and +/- changes are less than a second…
Check to see if your trainer app has settings to adjust response rate such as transition or ERG delay options.

How about a slider of some sort for quick jumps then use +/- to fine tune?
You would tap on a slider below the mode option or drag to your ballpark number. then use + or - as needed.

That app waits for acknowledgement from the trainer in order prevent flooding it with too many requests.

forgive me if i have missed it somewhere, but I am looking to use an old mobile as a head unit, and looking to mount it to an ‘in front’ computer mount on my bars- as the EBC is in portrait mode it means the phone has to be munted that way and sticks out quite a way- it would be a lot neater if EBC could be put into landscape mode- I havent found a way to do it- is there any chance you could add this feature at somepoint? in my mind when in landscape the map/ gauge would be on say the left half of the screen, with the numerical data fields on the right hand side (or vice versa)- I know there are apps that can force apps to go into landscape but when I do this I just end up with a long thin map ontop of a long thin strip of data fields, and it doesnt look/work that well.

I would add an option to turn backlight on with the tones made at each interval.

Hi,
Today I noticed that my radar was finally connected with EBC in Bluetooth !
Yeah !!! (now, I’d like to have an additional audio to tell me when the last car has passed :stuck_out_tongue: )
