I am new to xert, so thank you in advance for your help.
I spend a large amount of my time riding indoors. With previous training plans I have sent my workouts to my garmin which is connected to my bike power meter, cadence sensor etc. I ride my workout, but I have my trainer connect to Rouvy with an appropriate route for my session making it feel as close as I can to completing my workouts on the road, and providing some lovely scenery too and memories of some great places I have ridden.
My question is, can I continue to do this with my xert sessions being loaded onto my garmin?
Yes, you should be able to do what you want with Rouvy similar to how Xert works with Zwift where your Garmin controls the workout while you ride around in Rouvy.
Another option is to login to Rouvy, select Menu, Connected Apps, Xert, Connect, and Authorize the Xert connections. This will pull in the WOTD (workout of the day) from Xert’s Planner and Rouvy will control your trainer.
If Garmin Connect is your central depository for all fitness activities you could also dual record on the Garmin (ANT+ to Power) while Rouvy controls the trainer via BLE.
I’ve used Rouvy and Xert together. The easiest way to do this, if you are not techno savvy, is to authorize Rouvy to connect to Xert as @ridgerider2 explained. Your workout of the day (or the one you have scheduled) will sync in the workout section in Rouvy.
Thank you for your responses, appreciated.
Just for clarity, I don’t want to use Rouvy in workout mode, I just want to ride a route but using my Garmin to ride my intervals. I know this isn’t normal, but this is how I like to do my workouts
I think I have the correct screens and sync with garmin, so hopefully this will work.
Yes, you can control the workout with your Garmin Edge while riding the route in Rouvy.
See this article that describes the option to run Xert with Zwift.
Pretend that Xert EBC Workout with Zwift is instead Xert Connect IQ Player Workout with Rouvy.
Notice this line in the instructtions – Alternatively, you can also use the Xert Workout Player for compatible Garmin Edge devices. Simply follow the setup guidelines as described in our video:
You can skip the instructions for creating an overlay with the Session Player but that is also an option if you run Rouvy on Windows or MacOS.
