Wahoo kicker turbo trainer, Garmin 520 v EBC on android

Hi

Could someone kindly let me know what’s happening. I resumed training mid January and have been on a Aggressive 2+ periodised plan to finish in June of which I’m still in the Base phase.

Every time I get on EBC with a planned ride I get ridden off the turbo by endurance rides, tonight it dangled me at 150W for durations and I only finished 48 min of a 3 hour session. The looming green block looked impossible. So failure to complete has been common. I then went ahead with the head unit at chosen output at 150W and had spare effort for supplementary harder short efforts.

My HR was not recorded for the first session but i replaced the battery for the second and even on perceived exertion it was then easier. I’m losing confidence the EBC is just hammering me and all I want is handy endurance rides.

At this point I’m draining myself on intensity and skipping rides 'cos they’re getting intensive. I understand the Xert is AI and modifies workouts on the fly so this is rather perplexing.

Where does the discrepancy come from and what should I do about data being aquired from two sources?

Any help much appreciated…

I thought I should write an update….

Basically, I was remarking on progression. So following March I took a half week break from cycling, the plan I was on was continuous progression. I went for sprint training drills off the turbo to gain some strength. I had been tackling TT, puncheur and GC specialist sessions! Past grandeur not quite addressed

To mix up early Summer my job gave me some trips away too as seen in April, then I bought a second hand hardtail and went on some weekly 2-3 hour mtb rides. One weekend was a two day brief tour in the next county. The turbo was less in use.

By May I had a rebound and rising Training load. Coming to June I had a trip away, I do Environmental monitoring and was in the Tyrol at altitude and to be honest 8-10 hour days walking was sufficient loading.

Its apparent now some compensation took place, change in HIE. I got in one or two turbo rides on Xert and fatigue at exertion had reduced having better fitness. On the back of this I’ve now gone onto a Goal orientated training plan on Xert which I can now get into some varied deficits with the plan aimed at September.

I shall give it a crack, maybe some road racing next season
