I tried using magic buckets for the first time in the Android EBC app during a virtual ride in Rouvy. During the ride it seemed to work fine with the intensity buckets gradually filling over time. However after I finished the ride and the data from Rouvy was uploaded to Xert, the XSS numbers were different than what was reported during the activity.
The goal numbers in the buckets came from the daily targets on the today page. The targets were I think ~15 High and ~2.2 Peak. In the EBC app at the end of the ride, the High bucket was reported around 13.5 and Peak around 1.1. After the activity was uploaded to Xert from Rouvy, the activity XSS was High 7.8 and Peak 0.7. Why the discrepancy?
The trainer control and all sensor connections were in Rouvy. In the EBC app, I had power reading from the trainer, and I think I left speed from power set to ON. No other data connections in EBC. Is there something else I should have connected? Does it require cadence?
Sounds like you had everything set up correctly to me. Technically speaking, all you need configured in the Xert EBC app is a Power Source. Small differences are very normal. But the difference you’re describing is significant. Perhaps you left out more information? Can you share an MPA chart from the ride?
Was the ride a breakthrough activity? When you get a Breakthrough or a Near-Breakthrough, Xert recalculates all the data from the ride (MPA, XSS, Difficulty, etc.) using your *new, updated signature.
