Training Status - planner and training tab do not match

Can anyone help me to understand the training status colours? I have used the 30 day free trial and all appeared to be working fine showing me as red/yellow/blue on the planner for different days depending on my training levels.

Now the planner always just seems to show blue and when I look to add a workout it states my status will be blue at the start of the session. To me it looks like an error, can anyone help?

Scrrenshots below of my current status, the planner calendar and when I look to add a workout to the planner for tomorrow’s session. Why is the planner not showing any red or yellow at all, am I missing something?

Hi @Craigh - If you’ve adjusted your Freshness Feedback slider, it will apply to your current displayed training status, but changes to FF are not applied to the fitness planner. Maybe check to see if FF has been moved and reset it to the default position (0) and see if that resolves things. HTH!

Thanks @ManofSteele

The slider is central and showing at 0. The status and planner currently match although looking back at the past few weeks since I have been on a paid subscription the planner shows as all in blue. When I compare that to when I was on the trial period I had some red and also fair amounts of yellow, which I felt was probably about right given the sessions and races I was doing.

For context the last two weeks of ZRL I have had a gold and bronze breakthrough and they have definitely been tough, however the system still only shows fitness history as blue on the planner?

This could be correct as I am very new to Xert but it does not tie in to how the software was displaying my fitness previously.

Any tips or pointers greatfully received :+1:

Hi @Craigh,

If you’re feeling more tired than what Xert is currently calculating, you can modify the ‘Recovery Demands’ under the General tab from your Profile Settings. This setting allows users to fine-tune their training based on their self-perceived recovery needs

Sounds like you might benefit from moving the slider a bit more towards “More Recovery” - once you’ve done that save your changes and review your planner! Tweak as needed!

Cheers!

While you’re adjusting the RD slider it helps to switch to desktop view on your mobile browser and the Planner will look like this.

Thanks I have done that and taken two screenshots below the first being a few weeks ago which had some red and yellow in it, the second being the last couple of weeks, following a similar pattern of at least 2 zwift races a week, however in the past two weeks the status just remains blue - I have not knowingly changed any settings and my recover demands are set to the centre still which I am guessing is the default position?

For example last Saturday Dec 14th I did the zwift epic race and a masses quite a bit of XSS however the planner still shows as blue, my training Status after the workout was red. When I was using Xert in the trial mode this did seem to reflect correctly on the planner, now it just seems to stay blue regardless

What has happened to your training load since November?

Haven’t looking specifically at your data, but as a generic response… If you continue to do that ‘same’ workouts/activities/races each week, at some point, they no longer become a potent enough stimulus to continue improvement - this is referred to as reaching a fitness plateau. This is likely what happens to most athletes who end up riding the same paces/routes week in and week out.

In order for you to continue improving, the strain (XSS) needs to be sufficiently more than your training load. This is the fundamental principle of progressive overload.

To give a specific example, if my high training load is 2 and I do roughly 2 High XSS each day (or 4 High XSS every other day) that’s just par for the course, so to speak… .my body is used to it! In order to grow my High Training Load & achieve yellow status, I may need to achieve significantly more than 2 High XSS per day, on average. At least this is how mathematically training status/freshness works.

You can/should still experiment with moving the slider to see how it affects things!

Thanks @ManofSteele I will give it a try and see how things go.

Thanks again for your responses, much appreciated
