My default setting in Strava is for rides to be Private because I want to change the Title (“Name” in Xert except when you want to edit it, then Xert also calls it Title, as in “Edit Title”), add Media, etc. before I make the ride Public. Xert gets the data from Strava before this happens and never updates again - so, technically, not Synced. It becomes a problem when you want to Search for data (in Xert, for whatever reason) by Name.
This issue also makes using the Xert Filters a pain. For example, I want to quickly see if an Outdoor workout I did a few months back (or last year at this time) would be a good fit with Xert suggestions but instead of the Title I am familiar with, I have to figure out how Xert renamed my ride and distinguish between the other 20 rides it gave the same Name!
I don’t know what, if anything, triggers an automatic Re-Sync, but a Title change in Strava should. I don’t like how Xert makes its own “Name” for a ride and that doing a manual Sync does not update it to the Title from Strava. I suppose the only workaround is to turn of Automatic Sync and do it manually after I’ve changed these things in Strava? What a PITA!
I don’t plan to stop using Strava as my “data aggregator” any time soon. As much as I’d like to sometimes, it still just makes the most sense. The recent Strava / Garmin spat was a reminder for me to be sure I have local copies of all MY ride data.
