Hi anyone at all who can help? This has been ongoing a while and is doing my head in. Rides uploaded to Strava are renamed to hard pursuit ride or something else that I don’t want to share.
How do I prevent xert from modifying a ride on another platform. Strava default is morning ride, afternoon ride, and this is my preference. Someone suggested disconnect Garmin, and I have tried this but no change. Also Show Reports and Summary Data on Strava is off on xert. Ideally I would like my rides uploaded to Garmin and Strava, doesn’t seem like I should have to make this choice, to avoid a second party renaming my activities on Strava
I do love xert, but there are quite a few added complications that create extra admin.
A title has to be set when the ride gets sent to Strava. Rather than using time-of-day based naming, we chose to use something more informative. We don’t provide an option to choose what you want the naming to be. Frankly, we get a lot complaints from users that aren’t getting their rides renamed and rarely the opposite.
Couple of options. You can disable the automatic Xert->Strava sync on the Strava Settings page and then manually “Send to Strava” on the Today page when your ride is completed. There you can name it, change the description and decide if you want a report. Alternatively, you can set the default activity privacy to Only Me on Strava and then manually change the name and set to Everyone on the ride on Strava.
We have considered providing options for how to name activities on Strava but there are already these two good alternatives. The latter especially should really be employed by all Strava users. There is too much junk and clutter on Strava and users should be triaging all their rides before making them public. My opinion anyway…
You could make all your rides private, then once they’re on Strava, go edit the name to your preference, and then set them public. Nobody will be the wiser
100% agree, I don’t want all my training posted on Strava. And have absolutely no problems with indoor workouts being named by type. But I don’t like how xert renames outdoor rides to the training stimulus.
Current strategy is all rides private and then rename accordingly. But I was trying to avoid unnecessary admin post ride/workout.
