This week I started a new program in order to prepare for a race in September.
While clicking through the training recommendations in the planner, I found the following recommendation:
How can the AI suggest 3h 21m of low intensity training with 222 XSS and straight below recommend “Status is Very Tired. Training should be avoided”?
May be there is - again - any explanation or suggestion for changing configuration. But if I have to have detailed knowledge about how the AI works in order to provide it with a configuration that delivers useful results, I think the AI is kind of useless and I am better off to plan my training by myself.
I am currently in doubt if it makes sense to renew my subscription under these circumstances.
When you view the forecast chart are there any magenta outlined matchsticks?
If so, hover over each entry and view the warning text.
Normally there won’t be any If the forecast is successful.
Did you happen to manually pin some activities to the Planner that require a recast or adapt?
Without seeing any other information, it looks like your program needs to be adapted.
The optimizer won’t schedule training (let alone multiple hours of training) if your status is red at the start. But if you’ve deviated from the planned training, this is possible. If you Adapt Forecast, Xert will likely adjust the training forecast.
First thank you for your anwers.
I apologize but I expected these answers.
Yes, I pinned activities for one week in France at the beginning of August. And yes, that brought me some matchsticks in magenta.
Adapting the forecast did not substantially change the state. For July 17th, I now get a forecasted pure endurance training of 205 low XSS and the following statement: “Warnings
Too much low intensity XSS to recover in time”.
What really annoys me is, why does Xert make two such completely contrary statements for a single point in time? If the AI knows that 205 XSS is too much for me at a given day, why does it forecast and propose that? IMHO these statements should be consistent because what shall I do now? Do the 205 XSS or rest or something in between? What I expect is a clear recommendation about how many XSS to do on that day in order to do a training that matches my training state and goals.
Interesting that a conversation stopped at this point, when the faulty programming becomes apparent. One could also simply admit to these errors instead of keeping them quiet.
I am now also frustrated because Xert is not able to prioritize additional events and races and plan appropriate tapering. According to support, I should then reduce the availability or change other settings. But then I don’t need an adaptive program if it doesn’t adapt. Especially as this is actually the basis of every training program and providers such as TrainerRoad naturally take this into account.
Hi Andreas,
glad that at least one person shares my opinion about what an adaptive training program should do!
If I have to adjust the input parameters such that I get the expected result, it is better I plan my training manually from the beginning.
