Respiratory exchange ratio (RER) calories, fat and carbs

After I do a workout, xert gives me the calories burnt, fat and carbs in grams. From what I read, you need the RER measurement How does xert know and is it accurate? Based on what! is it better to use morr fat or more carbs?

Xert estimates this based on the work you perform (watts) and that you burn more carbs when you work above LTP.

So, it doesn’t take HR into account!

The stochastic nature of cycling is not reflected well in HR data, so it’s not as accurate as power data to record muscle type recruitment, aerobic/anaerobic contribution, etc.
