does anyone use the new xert integration to the Hammerhead karoo 3? I’d like to buy that computer but I absolutely need audible interval alerts of the device speaker (not bluetooth) when doing outdoor workouts with the xert extension. The former extension didn’t support the speaker but only connected headphones. Is it possible with the new integration of the xert app?

I don’t have a Karoo but as long as EBC runs like it does on a phone the speaker should generate a tone during interval transitions when executing a selected workout.
Hopefully a Karoo 3 user will chime in to confirm that.
OTOH won’t you be using Magic Buckets outdoors? No sounds needed. You control the intervals. Start/end, duration, and recovery are variable depending on terrain and traffic and how you decide to execute the intervals during your ride. So much easier (and a lot more fun) than trying to execute a structured workout outdoors.
You are right, probably magic buckets should be the best for outdoor workouts so I’ll try that feature when I have bought the karoo.
Today I also got an answer from the hammerhead support to my question concerning the sounds: the karoo speaker cannot be accessed by extensions and other apps due to software limitiations of the karoo system. another way to avoid that problem is to download the workout as ZWO file to the device and play it from the karoo system.
Bummer about no-speaker access for extensions. That seems an oversight but perhaps the version of Android under the hood prevents it.
