Push Xert workout from iphone to Garmin 1040 trouble

The Xert Dashboard and Buckets data fields give a orange dot connection status and therefore can’t push workout from phone to Garmin 1040.

On my iPhone 11 Garmin Connect app under “Training and Planning” the “Workouts” is selected which shows the correct workout for the day has been pushed from Xert to Garmin Connect phone app. Believe I input the correct Xert user name and password in Garmin but have no idea where to check and re-input that info. I re-started both phone and Garmin 1040. Anything else I should check?

I have the Xert Dashboard and Buckets data fields successfully loaded onto the Garmin 1040 and can view them.

Thinking the Buckets data field will be redundant as the Dashboard data field offers the metrics of the Buckets field, is that correct? If I choose to just fill buckets to fulfill the day’s workout requirements can this be accomplished with the Dashboard data field?

Power on the 1040, run Garmin Connect on your phone, select the 1040 device, Activities Apps & More, Data Fields, select Buckets, Settings, enter your Xert credentials, Save, repeat for Dashboard, then Sync to the device.
On the 1040 select the Profile with Dashboard or Buckets data field, start recording an activity and the dot should change to green indicating a successful connection to Xert. A screen will also pop-up briefly displaying your signature, XSS ratio targets, and weight if viewing the Dashboard or XSS ratio targets if viewing Buckets.
Garmin has a restriction with how often Connect IQ apps can attempt a connection so if the first fetch fails you’ll have to wait 5 minutes for the next attempt. In the meantime you’ll see the orange dot.

I attempted to follow your flow chart but fell victim to a bug in Garmin’s updates. The drop down menu for the progression you outlined is in Chinese on my Garmin Connect for the 1040 as a result of recent update to firmware! Not able to read Chinese decided to call Garmin Tech support. This is a known issue which is being addressed and told should be resolved Jan 2025. The Garmin tech suggested to remove then reinstall the Xert Dashboard and Buckets data fields, basically bypassing the need to navigate the Chinese drop down menu. Starting a fresh resolved the lack of authorization issue I was facing.

I now get the satisfying green dot connection status!
