Planner - Hours Planned drops to showing Hours Ridden

I really like the Planner calendar page. Its usually the first thing I look at when opening Xert, and use it frequently to look back on rides and ahead to Forecasted rides. Having the weekly stats line is great too.

However, the Hours field is a bit of a failure or at least a misnomer.

If I look ahead to next week, it says I have “Hours: 0.0 / 5.8 Planned”. This makes sense, I haven’t ridden next week yet, and its using my scheduled rides.

Partway thru this week it shows “Hours: 1.2 / 6.6 Planned”. Again, this is good as I’ve only one ride so far this week, but rides scheduled for Thu/Sat/Sun.

But when I look at last week, or any previous week, it shows “Hours: 4.8 / 4.8 Planned”. Its always a perfect match and only shows hours ridden. Doesn’t matter if I only did 1 hour out of a previously planned 5.5 hours, it would show “Hours: 1.0/1.0 Planned”.

One, that phrasing is just wrong, as that’s not the number of hours that was planned that week.

Two, and of more interest to me, is that It could be useful to look back and see where you were under (or over!) planned hours ridden for the week. Seeing something like “Hours: 3.5/6.2 planned” would be clear that I missed a bit that week; or seeing “Hours: 9.3/5.4 planned” says that I got in some excellent long rides that were not scheduled.

It is good to have actual vs planned comparison, but there is always the question when your plan becomes the baseline (gets fixed).

Let’s say that I have some plan for the next week. Shall I fix it today or on Sunday? What if I want to make adjustments on Tuesday to the planned workouts? Should they become the new baseline or not?

I guess it would always require individual user decision, because everybody can have different needs or expectations.
