New to xert, how to achieve my goal of continuous improvement?

Hi all,

I’m new to xert (coming from being coached as well as trying out other platforms), and have been a bit puzzled by how to utilize the xert platform on how to achieve just a continuous improvement goal. I don’t have an event, but just want to get faster.

First, my goal is to get faster at 20-30min climbs. I’m using Time trialist 20min power as goal. Is that correct? Not sure if I should use climber as goal, but that’s only 10min.

When I used XFAI xert will populate my training calendar similar to other training platforms. But it doesn’t seem to adapt to anything that I’ve done yesterday or, if I deviate off of the plan today, it won’t change the workout tomorrow. In this case, I’m guessing that I should just use my best judgement and skip/alter workouts? ie, if I did an unplanned hard workout, then I should skip tomorrow’s hard workout?

When I use XATA with continuous improvement as goal, xert will give me a blank calendar. Am I supposed to adjust my freshness rating every day, and then add a workout based on how I feel? Sometimes I can’t quite tell how fresh I feel until I get on the bike and do some efforts. But by then, it’s too late to adjust freshness and select workouts. I’m also supposed to assign my own rest days, right?

With my goal in mind, can someone please help me go through the process of how they’d utilize xert’s set of features?

thank you!

For XATA Continuous I suggest you set Focus to GC Specialist as a start, but you should change it periodically to mix up stimulus.
You can define Availability if you want to assign specific rest days to the calendar. Otherwise use Freshness Feedback to change daily recommendations if calculated form does not match how you feel when you’re about to train.
If you don’t feel confident about finishing a HIT workout indoors you can always slip into Slope mode and do the best you can. If you have a Garmin you can alternately use Magic Buckets – outdoors or indoors – while free riding to a Focus target.
Whether you achieve the target goal for the day or not, XATA will adjust accordingly moving forward.
Same with XFAI plans. Deviate far enough off planned weekly XSS allocations (low and high/peak strain) and you’ll be prompted to adapt the forecast moving forward.
