Mismatch of my fitness status in Xert vs reality: advice wanted

I performed a ramp test today, results in image. How is this not a breakthrough? The Power is much higher than the MPA, for quite a while.
Additionally, according to Xert, I am or should be very tired all the time, while in reality I am fresh as ever.
Also, I think my calculated TP is way too low.
And the workouts that Xert is suggesting are always too short and to low in intensity (to my feeling).
What can I do to align Xert more with my real fitness status?

How much historical day-to-day power data is on file? (Xert requires weeks of data to dial in your signature)
Are you riding indoors and out with power data from both activities?
When is the last time your performed a BT workout? (not a RAMP test which is one dimensional in scope)
What is current target date, athlete type, and improvement rate set to under Goals?
Have you tried adjusting the freshness feedback scale in that form?

Agree it looks like a (massive) breakthrough, and Xert should automatically update your signature as a result. If your signature didn’t update I’d write to the support team directly.
You could try clicking ‘extract’ in the activity, and then saving (first go to ‘advanced MPA’, then below the chart there’ll be extract and save buttons), but you shouldn’t have to do that normally

@ridgerider2 Thank you for your input. My answers in BOLD

16 indoor rides since April 5.
Are you riding indoors and out with power data from both activities?
Indoor only
When is the last time your performed a BT workout? (not a RAMP test which is one dimensional in scope)
My first ride, April 5, also a ramp test, I got a golden breakthrough. Since then, nothing (screenshot below)
What is current target date, athlete type, and improvement rate set to under Goals?
July 1, GC Specialist, Moderate-1
Have you tried adjusting the freshness feedback scale in that form?
Now I have, and at leat I’m not tired anymore, so that’s already an improvement

According to Xerts own help pages, a fitness breakthrough is: A fitness breakthrough is achieved when your power reaches or surpasses MPA for longer than 5 seconds during an activity.

My effort of today is in that definition definately a breakthrough.

Some feedback?

A screenshot of my first ride logged on Xert a month ago, which was labeled as a fitness breakthrough:

@wescaine OK, thank you, will contact the support team. Thanks.

I’m also very new to xert, but one thing I found among many is, that the algorithm relies heavily on a valid peak power number (especially since this one decays super fast, at least for me). I don’t know anything about you, but I doubt, that 168 watts is the most you can dish out for 5 seconds.
My signature was a little off, too (due to base work and me not knowing about no decay). I hammered some sprints, did a 20min-ish (thank you xert!!!) effort with an all out sprint at the end and boom --> signature spot on

As @ChewieLeg notes your fitness signature requires a variety of efforts to dial in the markers.
A RAMP test alone won’t do this.
Search the workout library for “breakthrough” and you’ll see how those workouts are designed to force a BT for each signature value or at east test your current settings.
A BT workout is best performed in resistance or slope mode (if using a trainer) so you can force best efforts during the work intervals whether you hit the targets or don’t, or potentially exceed them.

Have you tired to use the Fitness freshness bar?

Thanks all for contributing to this thread. I got feedback from Xert support:

Thanks for reaching out to us. Sometimes when you get a breakthrough that greatly exceeds what the model suggests you can do, the system has a hard time extracting a new signature and it needs a little help. I’ve manually extracted a signature for you now, so you should be set to go. Also, you might find that a ramp test isn’t able to tell you everything about your fitness - listen to our first podcast to learn why!

I agree with them and you @ridgerider2 @ChewieLeg that the ramp test might not be the only truth and one-dimensional, but without this test I would still be training under my own level. Xert would only keep advising me way too easy workouts, like being stuck in a boot loop.
Now I know of the existence of breakthrough workouts, great! Will try them from time to time as an alternative to a ramp test.

Anyway, my fitness stats have been updated quite dramatically:
TP: 118 to 154W
HIE: 8.2 to 10.7kJ
PP: 168 to 584W you were correct @ChewieLeg

For now the model has been adjusted by ‘divine intervention’, to make the model fit to me.
I hope from now on, the model starts doing what it’s designed for, i.e. lead me to better results.

Thats what we’re all hoping for
