I don’t know why, but the principle with the three zones, low, high, peak, sounds logical to me. But how do I know what power I need to ride for each zone? Is there a specification for this? Perhaps for low up to LTP, for high between LTP and FTP and for peak above FTP?
Magic buckets gives you a target power for the intervals and the recovery periods. It automagically adjusts these during your workout based on what you have already completed. If you ride with more power than requested, the target for the next interval will adjust down. If you ride below the target it will adjust the next interval up. It’s more complex than that description but that’s the general idea.
Okay, that means that if I’ve already filled the low and peak ranges, the app will show me the target power I still need to fill the high range?
Small correction here - they’re not “zones” like other platforms. You can’t fill *only * the high (orange) or peak (red) buckets without also partially filling the other buckets. In other words, riding at any intensity above threshold will fill all 3 buckets, albeit in different ratios depending on the intensity you’re riding at.
@Garrick is spot on… The data field calculates the interval power that will fill the high & peak in equal ratios & then gives you recovery intervals between efforts that help fill up the low (blue) bucket.
Thank you for your quick and understandable answer.
