So today nothing is right with my notes. In Magic buckets I was shown 106 low, 5.1 high and 1.1 peak and I drove exactly 106. I was high at 5.3 and peak also exactly at 1.1. I recorded with my garmin Edge 540 and the display in Xert is now not right at all, completely exaggerated. What could be the reason?
Second by second analysis on XO server (xertonline.com) will always be more accurate than the simplified math on the Garmin apps and data fields.
The XSS values are normally fairly close as long as your fitness signature is dialed in and the activity doesn’t include a BT (breakthrough) which restructures the analysis.
If you don’t consider that activity as hard (RPE) when MPA was drawn down your signature is likely understated.
When was your last BT detected?
How many BTs detected within the last 90 days? (set XPMC to 3 months under Progression tab)
What is your status stars count?
I am still brand new to Xert and in the trial month. But I have synchronized all trips from zwift and garmin. Today was my 3. Breakthrough within 2 weeks. The last one on friday. My status star count is nearly 2 stars.
I still have an old android phone here. Is the recording with Xert EBC better than with garmin? Or should I do the recommended workouts?
There are code limitations on what you can do with a Garmin Connect IQ app.
The Android EBC app provides more robust feature set for both workout execution and Magic Buckets.
Indoors I’ll also use my Garmin to dual record when I’m riding on Zwift or a similar platform where that platform pairs by Bluetooth connection and the Garmin uses ANT+.
Looks like you got a breakthrough on the ride
Congrats!
When you get a Breakthrough (or a Near-Breakthrough), Xert needs to recalculate all the ride data using your new, updated signature. This means that the MPA, Difficulty, XSS, etc. for the ride might change a bit. But this is totally normal!
Another good chance to post our FAQ Tech Support video on BT’s. I’ve linked it to a similar/related question ![]()
