How closely do I have to hold the recovery target for 5 seconds to get magic buckets to recognize a recovery period? I could not get magic buckets to move on from the first interval until my high bucket exceeded my target.
Should have worked with 5 seconds.
Was this the first time you’ve tried XMB?
Was it a free ride or were you following a workout?
- It takes 5 seconds for the gauge to switch from one interval type to another. When you start your high intensity interval, hold it for 5 seconds for the INTERVAL state to show. Similarly, after completing your interval, hold the recovery power for 5 seconds to see the gauge switch to the RECOVERY interval.
- Once your recovery is complete, you can continue to recover and collect more low intensity XSS or can start a new interval to stay at the same Challenge Level.
This was the second time I tried XMB. The first time, everything seemed to work fine, though I’ll admit I was a little confused about how it all worked.
Both rides were free rides.
Is power data recording set to 1 sec (not Smart) and Auto-pause disabled on the 1030P?
Are any other Connect IQ data fields installed that may be interfering?
The device is a Garmin Edge 530. Data recording was set to Smart. I have changed it to 1 sec. Auto-pause is disabled.
According to the IQ Store app, I have 3 data fields installed, but My Data Fields just shows XMB and the Xert Dashboard. Maybe the third field is the defunct XSS buckets? I had that set up on a data screen for the previous ride, but I have now removed it.
I just finished a XMB ride, and it worked as described this time. One interesting note: at one point, it said my recovery target was 0 watts. Fortunately, I didn’t have to drop that low for it to recognize my recovery phase!
(I know; I probably should have changed one thing at a time.)
