Karoo, Xert EBC app and Tacx Neo

Wasn’t sure if to post this in support or how-to…

Anyhow, I have a Hammerhead Karoo (3).

I download the Xert EBC app through extensions, and tried to run a workout through it. Connection to my Tacx Neo was wildly unstable. Meaning, I could not follow the workout through the Xert EBC app itself. (I tried to connect the sensors, meaning the Tacx Neo there too).

So, I ended up wasting some time, and had to download the workout file, to then upload it through hammerhead dashboard.

I assumed there was an easier way? What did I do wrong?

Is it possible another app is in contention to control the trainer?
Sensors should only be paired under Karoo settings, not EBC.
Are these the steps you followed?

Do you prefer controlling indoor workouts with your Karoo rather than EBC on your phone?
The main benefit to EBC on a Karoo is access to Magic Buckets and Xert data fields during an outdoor ride.

Well, I guess my mistake was to use the Xert EBC app really. Apart from only the magic buckets part. Meaning, I tried to start a workout through the app, but that was catastrophic. So I guess I have to download and import workouts manually?

Does the trainer communications issue also occur when you run EBC on your phone?
You should be able to use EBC on your phone or EBC on Karoo.
EBC Android also supports running Magic Buckets indoors by not selecting a workout. Gears/cadence against your trainer’s default resistance (or slope mode) allow you to perform XMB intervals on HIT days.

Hmm. I’ve got a Neo 2T and a Karoo 2 that I’ve used to run workouts before in the past. I’ll give it a shot early next week and can report back if/how I got it to work

@ManofSteele Cool!
And to also answer @ridgerider2

I think I’ve might have used it “wrong”.

I thought that using the app directly on the Karoo would be fine, but didn’t work for me. I guess the idea is to just be able to access the magic buckets?

What I found out works, is to download in ZTO format, then upload it to the Karoo via the dashboard. I guess I just had a more of a “Garmin Connect” expectation here, that I either could access and add the workouts directly via the Xert EBC app, or be able to schedule it, and get it into the Karoo as a normal workout to follow.

Same problems i’m finding with my Decathlon D500 both on the K3 and on Android, but everything works fine via Mywoosh. :dunno:
