Karoo navigation while using Magic buckets?

Today I followed a route on my Karoo and wanted to use the Magic Buckets feature, while riding.

I never got any alerts showing where to go next on my route.

Is it a bug, or is it just not possible to receive directions, when using magic buckets?

Hello, I also have a karoo. Unfortunately, this is not possible. I also tried everything. No overlays are displayed, even the climber is not displayed.

Too bad. I’m using new routes to see new landscapes close to me and would love to use magic buckets, but am afraid I will miss turns.

It’s the same with me. I take my bike with me on business trips from time to time. I drive then just without Magic bucket and without Xert, unfortunately.

You just have to decide: Xert Magic buckets or navigation.

I tried to switch between navigation and Magic Buckets and it works ok. I try to take a look at the recommended wattage for the interval and hold it on the next climb, then switch back to the map and afterwards I go back to Xert again.

I was just wondering, because my Garmin Varia overlay works and I somehow assumed the navigation overlay would work as well. Of course I’m no software engineer, so maybe it was a little naive to just assume if one overlay works, the other would automatically work as well.

Radar support is included with the EBC app so that’s why radar works when you’re in Extension mode.

From Karoo support site –
You can keep both native and extension apps open at the same time, but only one will be active at a time. Use the Extensions Library to quickly switch between them mid‑ride.

I don’t have a Karoo but it sounds simple enough to flip back and forth between native and Extension mode. Or are extra steps required?

No, you can just set the MPA data field up and then switch between the maps screen and the Magic Buckets.

It’s manageable, but it’s just a minor annoyance on unknown twisty roads, when there are many quick turns in succession. It would have been awesome if it just could have shown a small arrow when a change in direction occurs.

That would be the overlay. Switching back and forth between Xert and the map isn’t ideal if I don’t get any navigation instructions in the Xert app to tell me which street to turn at next.

Would it be possible to develop the xert magic buckets as a data field like on garmin? I’m not a developer and I’m not familiar with this, but looking at other programmed data fields, it seems like quite a lot is possible. Here’s an example:

A “Magic Bucket data field” would be awesome! Something like a “mini player”.

Don’t get me wrong - totally happy that it is available for the karoo now, but there is a lot going on witht the player I don’t really need. Displaying what I want as regular data fields …
