I have been listening to Jack Burke / Steve Neale talking about how they used xert to break Alpe dhuez KOM.
I am trying to figure out how to work out what power I need to do to beat a friends strava segment time on a local hill. I have there TCX file and weight . but cant figure out how to extract the power on the actual hill part of my friends ride. all I can get is if Xert thinks i can do the OVERALL ride, rather than just the hill…
Any tips/ documention on how I do this? I just want to know what power to do on the segment to beat him!!
Hi @amascia - where did you get their activity from? To me, it looks like the file doesn’t have any power data… You’ll need a file with power data (as well as knowing their weight at the time of the activity) for the analysis to work. Did they complete the ride with a power meter? Maybe you can ask them for their original .fit file, or you can use a tool like Strava Sauce to export their ride file. You can then use a tool like fitfiletools.com to crop only the part of the ride you wish to analyze.
I exported from Strava as gpx. No tcx or fit option. I will try again . They def had power as its recorded on the segment time in the screen shot . Maybe it was the gpx converter that I used
Correct as ever Scott. No power in that file…. Doh… mate didn’t have power meter back then…. Sauce also works great, will try again…. Thank you, very helpful
