I have had so much trouble trying to get workouts onto either the Xert workout player app or just my garmin workouts. What is the secret formula to make this happen? Sometimes I think I figured it out but then other days I waste half my morning trying to get it to show up.
Are you using XATA or XFAI?
How are you selecting the workout for the day?
On-the-fly from the Training page before you workout using Play Now?
Or added [+] to the Planner in advance?
If added to Planner check the Training page prior to loading the app and confirm the selection matches. That is the entry the app will show.
I noticed there is a bug that can cause a mismatch between the Planner and Training page. I’ll report that now.
If you Clear the Training page entry when the app is already running you’ll need to resync the workout list with XO by swiping down on the app.
check the workout scheduled date and time
Ok got it. I was always trying to use planner to get it onto the player on my garmin. What about getting workouts to garmin without the Xert player. I hit the little paper airplane but it never shows up under workouts. It worked one time for me but I can’t get it to do it again.
If the paper airplane icon isn’t working to send to GC on demand, try disconnecting Garmin sync and enable it again.
You should also be able to use the Planner (or Training page) to send to Garmin Connect automatically in background.
For this to work make sure “Send Scheduled Workouts” is enabled under Sync, Garmin Connect.
When this is enabled pre-planned workouts on the Planner are sent to GC after midnight each day. Or if today is blank, when you add a workout to the Planner.
You can then open GC on your phone, select Training & Planning > Workouts, find the ‘Xert Cycling Workout’ and send it to your Garmin device.
With the above you are pushing the workout to Garmin Connect. That differs from using EBC or the Connect IQ player to run a workout from the Planner.
The apps connect to XO (xertonine.com) to retrieve the selected workout.
As @danger mentions this is where Start Time becomes a factor. The scheduled time on the Planner need to be within 30 minutes of when you start EBC on your phone (or the Garmin Connect IQ player) for the workout to list at the top on the app.
Play Now sidesteps that requirement and immediately queues the workout for selection on the Xert app.
