Still struggling at times to understand XERT and make it work as I would like (tell it what I want and then trust it is telling me what I should be doing without second guessing it constantly or reading endlessly about some tweak I should be doing).
That being said, if I want to configure XFAI for a century ride event which is happening in October, what should I be setting the general settings to? It seems like that would be better if XERT itself chose based on the type of event I put (Recreational Century) right? For example I am not sure what to put for polarization, my assumption would be that for a century you would want a lot more long less strenuous rides building up over time.
What should I set that to? Also does the event type actually dictate anything with regards to the plan itself?
Also I notice that the preferred XSS setting (the last one in the general settings section) defaults to 100 which tells me the plan is achievable. However if I tell it to adjust the XSS automatically based on training load (automatic right?) it turns red and tells me it isn’t achievable. ???
Select Event. Which best describes the event type from the drop-down selections?
What is your current status stars count?
What is the maximum hours/week you can train between now and the target date?
Have you ridden similar events in the past or is this your first century?
You can leave the General Settings as is to start with. They work fine for most users.
Reasons to change depend on how well you are responding to the forecast plan and what you wish to accomplish that differs from the defaults.
The forecast can be updated (recast) if a change in settings is required during the plan.
IOW you can adjust the plan to fit you better if the “bell curve” defaults aren’t working for you or you have specific requirements in mind.
Periodization Level – Xert – Forms the basis for base-build-peak and associated changes in Focus. Unlikely you’d want to change this other than to avoid more base.
Polarization Level – Xert – Change frequency of harder HIT versus easier HIT more often.
Recovery Demands – Xert – Do you need more or less recovery than the low/high/peak form calculation predicts?
XSSR Preference (formerly Program Difficulty) – Xert – How difficult do you want your training to be within the time available?
