I just did an indoor ride with my Garmin 1040 connected. I managed to fill the leftmost and the middle bucket all the way to the top, and the rightmost halfway. However when I open Xert today I see this:
Why does it tell me I still need to do 57 blue XSS today? Why wasn’t that included in my bucket so I could have done it while riding? The data was synced correctly to my Garmin head unit in the ConnectIQ app, there were no issues.
Good question, Xert uses your availability to set the Low, High, & Peak XSS targets on a given day. This means that even if you have a large deficit, but only ~1 hour to train, you’ll be assigned approximately ~1 hr worth of XSS.
In some cases - depending on your Improvement Rate & recent activity, it’s possible to still have a deficit after riding your usual training time. If you have more time to train, you could consider doing an additional ~57 Low XSS to help work towards reducing the deficit, but it’s not required. Xert will try and spread the deficit over the next couple of days by recommending the XSS that fits into your available training time.
By default, Xert sets your availability for each day based on your recent activity data. You can review these & modify or override them from your Profile Settings > General tab if you’d like.
Sorry, I thought I understood, but I still don’t.
57 remaining, I rode for approx one hour, however this is my availability according to the Xert settings, for today:
I should be able to do those 57 in the 1.5h remaining I think?
Here’s an excerpt from my prior posts on the subject –
A remaining number indicates a gap between what was recommended and what you have completed for the day. It doesn’t mean you have to close that gap.
The deficit/surplus doesn’t carry over to the next day. Although calculated to show pts below/above Noon position on the Training Pacer, it’s not an exact number you must heed. It’s the value to return to Noon position (neutral) vs dipping toward red (Falling Behind) or riding more and getting Ahead of Plan. Your main goal is to keep the needle in the 11am-1pm position to attain/maintain your currently selected IR (improvement rate). That position may vary over the week (or week to week) as your schedule permits.
The Pacer Needle reflects a moving weighted average over a rolling 7 days. This is a significant difference between Xert and platforms based on targeted TSS tables. There is a flexible ebb and flow nature to Xert. You can also change the flow rate to accommodate changes in your schedule and ability to train more or less hours week to week.
