I plan on buying a Stryd pod, but it would be AMAZING if I could run (pun intented) some Xert Data Field on my Apple Watch.
@ManofSteele, is this something that could be consider in a near futur? I know from the article that a Garmin watch would be the way to go at the present moment.
Hi there,
I’d also like to revisit this topic and ask if there’s any chance for an application for Apple Watch plus Stryd.
I use WorkOutdoors on AW and it’s a great app,
but it still lacks functionality and training screens specific to Xert.
More and more people seem to be running here
and I think quite a few people use AW for cycling as well.
Best regards and Merry Christmas.
Robert
I think the chances are slim. If you are going to do cycling workouts on the road you should use a cycling computer or your phone. That way you can follow the workout whilst riding. It is not really possible using a watch.
If you do not want to invest in a Garmin Edge computer, just buy a quad lock phone mount and run the Xert EBC app.
Furthermore, I do not think the Apple Watch supports custom data fields, so they will have to develop a separate app for this.
I use Xert only for running.
Apple does not offer support for Stryd and any fields from Xert, of course,
but it surprisingly has a very open ecosystem.
Just take a look at http://www.workoutdoors.net to see an app created by one person that supports a wide variety of available power meters.
I understand that for cycling, the Apple Watch is not very useful, but I was asking about a running app.
Since Xert is also developing towards a running platform and has an app for the iPhone, perhaps (I don’t know, I’m not a programmer) it wouldn’t cost too much to make such an app for the Apple Watch.
I don’t want to use Garmin; I moved from the Epix 2 Pro to the Apple Watch for various reasons,
hence my inquiry.
regards,
Robert
