Is using the recovery slider to change your recovery dynamically (could be almost daily) depending on how you feel, HRV status, Garmin Body Battery, Whoop score etc recommended? Or is it a set and forget once you’ve dialled it in ?
Good question - it’s not something I would change daily. I have mine set for now a bit towards less recovery, but I might move it towards more recovery later in my program when I’m doing higher volume outside.
If you’re scheduled to do intensity, but you’re not feeling up to it, you can just pick an endurance workout/ride for the day and adapt your forecast after. Note that if you do continue to skip high-intensity days (or rest on low-intensity days) that it will eventually catch up with you - you may no longer be able to achieve your forecast training goals.
Armando discussed why we don’t automatically use sleep/HRV/whoop data in a podcast with Jack Burke - while those tools can be a good indication of today’s readiness, they can’t predict how ready you’ll be to train in the future. This is important because without some system that predicts training readiness, how can you possibly map out the training you need to achieve your program goals? Therefore, Xert uses your training loads & XSS scores to determine training readiness and map out your training.
