Adapt Forecast Multiple times

Hi all,

Quick question. In cases where I do not perform the workout as suggested by Forecast AI the Adapt Forecast will be red which makes sense. This usually happens when I ride outside on a day that calls for Low XSS but because I’m outdoors I always have high thrown in there because I’m so happy to be off the trainer I can’t help myself.

My question is that once the Adapt Forecast is red I’ll click it and save the new forecast. Almost without fail the Adapt Forecast light will be red after. Why would I have to reforecast multiple times in a row?

I don’t have any pinned activities or anything fancy in my planner.

Thanks

Hi @kjackson82, Thanks for your question! If you could post a screenshot of your forecast chart, that would help me take a closer look. Pay attention to any magenta-outlined XSS matchsticks and hover over them to see what issue Xert has identified.

The red dot typically indicates that Xert has detected something off in your training plan, like high intensity on a yellow day or a workout duration that exceeds your availability. When you click “Adapt Forecast,” Xert tries to resolve these issues by adjusting the plan. However, if the issues aren’t fully resolved, it might mean that the original goal or target of the program is no longer achievable based on the changes you’ve made or deviations from the training plan. In this case, Xert will adapt the best it can, but you might need to adjust your program targets or settings from the Program tab & re-forecast the remaining training.

Cheers!
Scott

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the answer! I didn’t realize that the chart highlighted the issues like that! I guess I deviated too much.

One problem is I ride mtb two to three times a week without power so the strain it is determining off heart rate isn’t accurate since it is only low strain. I can guarantee those rides aren’t low! I need to determine a method to modify those rides to more accurately reflect peak and high strain.

The question I have is SHOULD I be continually Adapting. For example I ride longer than suggested on a rest day. Does XFAI not take that into account unless we run the Adapt again?

Next time a red dot appears read the text warning by hovering over any magenta matchsticks on the forecast chart.
Sometimes the broken constraint is benign, and you can skip the Adapt.
There are conditions where the red dot will disappear on its own over the next week.
While you can run Adapt Forecast as often as you want it is optional.

No - Xert won’t change anything until you ask it to, via the Adapt Forecast feature. While we initially thought it might be nice to have the plan auto-update, we also realized that some might appreciate if they plan out a couple days (or a week) of training only to have it un-done as soon as they sync an activity.

I think our approach does put more onus on each athlete to manage their own training & decide if/when they want their training plan updated.

My favourite answer… it depends! Haha  If riding longer on your rest day impacts the rest of the plan (e.g. you see loads of magenta-outlined matchsticks), then you’ll probably want to adapt and adjust the training plan. But if riding a bit longer on a rest day doesn’t really impact the training plan (hardly any magenta matchsticks), then I’d just leave it be.
